Nancy
Nervous * talkative * horny

Life is shit.  We just keep getting pushed along before falling and getting flushed away.

I love science, I just can't do the math.  I eventually get it even, but only after I've failed.

About

Nancy is a fairly high-strung red squirrel who struggles with low self-esteem and long term... anything.

She dropped out of high school her senior year because she was failing her Calculus and Physics classes so badly she had no hope of graduating.  She had struggled with math so much through school with little help, and she was just done.

She started working whatever odd jobs she could, but struggled holding down a job for long as she struggled with forgetfulness and anxiety.

That has pretty much been life over the past 20 years.  Exhaustion, depression,. and anxiety have been nearly constant companions.  She has largely lost any hope for the future.

Her current job with "The Green Bean" flower shop is the first time in a long time that she has had the same job for more than a year in over 15 years.  She has tried not think to much about this for fear of jinxing it, and does not want to dare hope for fear of it being crushed yet again.  But hope is trying to poke through anyway.

Nancy often uses sex as a way to forget her pain for a little while.  Coworkers, folks from the bar or restaurant, wherever... she is quick to develop shallow relationships for the quick emotions and sex, then leave as quickly and gently as possible.

I'm thinking Nancy and Bonnie become friends, but not lovers (18 yr diff and boss / employee... nah), that they find some common ground in Bonnie's grief over the loss of her mom and Nancy's grief over the shambles of her life.

Bonnie and her dad offer her a place in the over garage appt they have so she can take the classes she needs to get her GED and the training to become an ultrasound tech, something that she wanted to do even as a high school student as she loved pregnancy and birth, and she can get that degree in about two years.

In early 2024 Nancy starts working as an ultrasound tech for a local midwifery practice which pays well, is living on her own again, being treated for ADHD, and for the first time in seemingly forever hopeful and happy.
