Katrina Bronte (カトリーナ・ブロンテ, Katorīna Buronte) is part of the growing middle class and a key figure in the emerging Aestheticism movement of the late 19th century.

Appearance

59Y6TFKatrina is a young brown woman with shoulder-length curly black hair, and dark brown eyes. She wears a pearl necklace to accompany her frock; which is primarily of a purple dress bearing a diamond motif along with grey roses and black embroidery along the top, the dress is pinned to her left by a pearl-filled conch revealing the innermost layer; a black and white underdress. The dress is lined with both black and white frills and a darker bodice. Katrina also wears matching detached sleeves to match with lace trimmings alternating between black and white.
Katrina also wears a pearlescent hair clip on the right of her head.

Personality

Katrina spends most of her time either daydreaming or writing and lives by the “l’art pour l’art” expression when creating and/ or writing. Katrina is known for her intense and vivid imagination, which takes up most of her daily life. She has compulsive fantasies that her parents had her channel into story telling. Katrina’s writings did not shy away from dipping into the immoral and grim of life, she had a keen fascination in the art of suffering and labour, she often travelled to workhouses under the guise of a journalist to document the horrific state of conditions. There were other times Katrina would observe mangled corpses of chimney sweeps pried from their soot cocoons. Her curiosity knew no bounds, and as a result of constantly surrounding herself with such things, she soon developed the ability to faintly see grim reapers. This subsequently made Katrina interested in the paranormal.
Katrina is a fabulist, she tends to hop between multiple ideas every other minute. Her indecisive nature is one that knowingly frustrates Ciel immensely.

History

Katrina came from humble beginnings. As a child she wrote many stories that were outlandishly esoteric; a gothic anthology with a recurring cast of characters, some of whom were affiliated with goetics. Most of which were shared with Katrina’s small friend group of young artists and muses who, like Katrina, enjoyed reading such texts. Katrina spent more time in her own head than talking to others, with a pen and paper in hand, she’d be lost in thought and writing for hours on end, avoiding the public sphere; sometimes emerging from her bedroom-turned-writing chamber when her friends successfully coax her out. Katrina grew up with a love-hate relationship with Victorian modernity as a so-called “born nonconformist” and wishing for a more open-minded approach to art.

To aid in expanding Katrina’s extreme imagination, Katrina was brought up with vast forms of entertainment such as brass bands, circuses, spectacles and alleged paranormal activity. Seaside/ forest holidays were a luxury Katrina had with her kin and folk.
None of the above could compare to the experience that was visiting art galleries with her grandmother, a true lady of conviction. It was her who taught Katrina of the fundamentals of aesthetics and critique; she never stifled Katrina’s concepts but rather offered new eyes of shrewdness. Katrina’s grandmother paid for her schooling and overseas expeditions to broaden Katrina’s aesthetics. After her grandmother had passed on in Katrina’s mid-teens, she always kept her in mind.

In Katrina’s late teens, she began her spree of “l’art pour l’art” macabre saga born from her knowledge to know more about the dark of London, however many believe that Katrina was familiarising herself with death to cope with the passing of her grandmother, although Katrina denies this. After Katrina discovered the existence of grim reapers, she called upon her friend group of artists and muses with the brazen idea to form a coven, hoping to attract the likes of the Great Marquis Phenex to aid Katrina in writing “the book of all books”.

Nowadays, Katrina publishes novels under the moniker of Cara Vera, she is also involved in a coven (most of whom are childhood friends). Katrina is also a demonlatress and owns a trinket to commune with Goetics, most of which also fill her head with stories which Katrina writes into reality. Katrina also carries a set of tarot cards on her person at all times.

Plot

Black Butler Arc

The Phantomhive household made itself more inviting for Katrina’s first visit with livelier lighting and the best tea to lift her spirit. This was done courtesy of Elizabeth’s set instructions as she planned that her good friend Katrina Bronte would be accompanying Elizabeth and Paula to visit the Phantomhive manor. Usually, Ciel was not one to invite guests over given the secrets he doesn’t wish to leave the manor, however Elizabeth is a new force of authority when it comes to her fiancee. That being said, Ciel prepared himself for Elizabeth, Katrina, and the amount of unnecessary chatter he will have to put himself through today. He already longed to retire.

The servants were far more enthusiastic, receiving guests always allowed the somewhat inept three to prove their use to Sebastian and Ciel. Sometimes if they did really good, Sebastian would dish out rewards on the occasion, so Mey-Rin stepped on a stool to fetch the ornate tea set which were then found shattered on the floor; Finny tended to the plants, the knocked into a large tree causing it to crash into the greenhouse; Baldroy made use of his flamethrower for some snacks, which resulted in 1 star charcoal. As for Tanaka? He does what he usually does.
Sebastian would intercede as always, correcting them and reprimanding them. He fetched the fine porcelain, he removed the fallen oak, and he prepared the sweets. Always Sebastian. So caught up in rectifying the wrongs of others that it took away from his duty that always shone brightest.

Elizabeth arrived via carriage just a little earlier, a common habit of hers, with Katrina in tow, the horses trotting gracefully across the courtyard before coming to a controlled stop. Elizabeth had reassured Katrina that Ciel would, in Elizabeth’s words, “adore her”. However with what Katrina knew of Ciel, she wasn’t sure that his adoration would be so freely given out.
Elizabeth was the first to leave the carriage, stepping down gracefully with the help of Sebastian. Katrina followed after, her eyes troubling to comprehend the sheer size of the manor. More to be added...
