Jestar(Marionette-Type Ancient Music Demon / Original Gakuian Variant)
OverviewJestar is a rare marionette-style manifestation of an Ancient Akuma (Original Gakuian). Unlike typical Ancient Gakuians who possess or harmonize with living hosts (often altering the body dramatically), Jestar binds his essence to a constructed puppet vessel. He operates as a puppeteer from within or alongside this vessel, using strings of reinforced demonic thread to control both the puppet and external targets. This gives him a unique, theatrical flair that blends performance art with manipulation.
He appears as a dapper, half-masked figure in a black vest, white shirt, fedora with yellow band, and sharp, clawed gloves—evoking a sinister ringmaster or ventriloquist from a forgotten vaudeville show in the outer rings of Symphony Gardens. His red eyes glow with hypnotic intensity, and one side of his face bears a blackened, toothy demonic grin.
Appearance & Forms
- Puppet Vessel: Jestar’s primary form is a humanoid marionette body that he can inhabit directly or control remotely. It features jointed limbs, visible strings emerging from back holes (stronger than metal), and a mix of formal attire with demonic accents (e.g., orange geometric patterns on dark trousers).
- Demonic Manifestation: Extra limbs or secondary mouths can emerge when exerting power. Music-note tattoos glow during performances or contracts.
- Human-Passing Form: He can tone down the more obvious demonic traits to blend in human or Symphony Gardens settings, though the puppet strings and half-masked face often remain as signature tells.
- Intersex species trait (common to Music Demons).
Abilities
- String Manipulation / Marionette Control: Produces unbreakable demonic threads from back holes to control puppets, objects, or even unwilling living beings (limited by willpower/resistance).
- Siren Songs (Hypnotic Singing): Uses music-related abilities to entrance audiences or targets, amplified through the puppet’s “performance.”
- Contract Making: Binds deals with theatrical flair, often sealed with a string-tied handshake.
- Puppet Mastery: Can detach consciousness to control multiple puppets or use the main vessel as a decoy.
- Flight / Levitation: Via strings acting as tethers or supports.
- Multiple Mouths / Extra Features: Can manifest secondary mouths for biting, speaking in unison, or enhanced sensory input.
- Jekyll & Hyde-like shifts: The puppet vessel allows personality facets to switch rapidly during “acts.”
BackstoryJestar originated as one of the ultra-rare Original Gakuians—ancient spirits/entities from the deeper layers of demonic history. Rather than fully possessing a living host (which often leads to conflict or takeover), he chose (or was forced by circumstance) to anchor himself into an intricately crafted marionette during the waning days of the old Music Demon patriarch.
This decision stemmed from a deep fascination with control, performance, and the theater of life. He views living hosts as “messy” and unpredictable, preferring the precision of strings and joints. Over centuries, Jestar wandered between the human world and Symphony Gardens, performing in shadowy venues like the Bared Teeth Casino or Stringz & Thingz warehouse (where he shares a curious acquaintance with Stringerz).
His presence often serves as a wildcard: he may ally temporarily with Myers Katabiss’s circle for a “grand performance” against threats, or lend his manipulative talents to the Bidingly family’s schemes when the payment (or entertainment) is right. However, his true loyalty is to the drama itself—he loves pulling strings behind the scenes, uncovering secrets (perhaps trading info with T.H.E.I.F), and toying with the ambitions of those seeking the identity of the Queen/King of Symphony Gardens.
Jestar’s ultimate goal remains enigmatic: perhaps to orchestrate the perfect “show” that reveals the realm’s hidden ruler, or to weave a contract that secures his own eternal stage. He has crossed paths with Euro Warren and Kaida Bidingly’s experiments before, viewing their creations as inferior “imitations” of true demonic artistry.
Weaknesses (Shared with Music Demons + Unique)
- Snake venom (as drink; bite survivable for most).
- Overpowering sound disrupting siren songs.
- Stabbing secondary mouths causes rapid bleeding.
- Severing his primary control strings (especially the core thread to the puppet vessel) can temporarily “unravel” him.
- Covering ears blocks hypnotic effects.
- His theatrical nature can lead to over-dramatization, creating openings for quick-thinking opponents.
Role in Symphony GardensJestar functions as a side character or occasional ally/antagonist— a mysterious performer who pops up when plots thicken. He might provide cryptic guidance to Proxy or Count Kaiya Von Pines, challenge Stringerz in a game of wits, or serve as a chaotic neutral force in conflicts involving Myers and her creator. His marionette motif makes him a perfect symbol for the hidden strings of power in the realm.
(Fits seamlessly into the Music Demon lore as a specialized Ancient Akuma variant. Kaida Bidingly might view him as a fascinating “flawed original” compared to her man-made perfect ones.)
