Profile
Kailani died and rose somewhere in midwest America and thatâs all sheâs really investigated of her past. She woke up with a backpack with outdated tech, some notebooks that didnât leave her with much information, and a driverâs license. These were left behind and she hasnât felt much need to dig into her past since.
Instead, she chooses to look forward.
As a Guardian, Kailani adapted quickly to something that was new in a way she didnât have any other context for. But there was something exhilarating about the fight and overcoming what, initially, seemed like insurmountable odds. Whatever her life was before, she feels like she was made for what she is now.
During the Red War, she initially stayed close to the city to help civilians before she made her way out to the farm. There she dove into, well, whatever would keep her focused and/or distracted from, you know, the fact that she could actually die.
Though she often runs solo and can be a bit of a loner, sheâs always happy to help out other Guardians in need, and always willing to lend a hand when asked. She keeps to herself because she often does really dumb things and doesnât want to put others in danger when she does really dumb things.
In the city, she has a tiny place she rents for when she just needs to get away from the tower and decompress. Itâs warm and welcoming with a large bed squished into a nook and full of pillows and blankets. Also, often full of cats when she wakes up, despite her not owning a cat.
Kailani is, by nature, an extrovert. She absolutely loves meeting new people and hearing new stories. She loves making friends and being able to make small talk with anyone she meets. It gives her a sense of normalcy, in a way, and feels ârightâ, even though a Guardianâs context for normalcy is ...quite a bit different than what most would consider normal.
Despite this, sheâs primarily alone by choice. She runs with fireteams on occasion, but she prefers to run missions solo if possible because she knows sheâs reckless and if sheâs only getting herself into trouble, thatâs less to feel guilty about when she decides to do absolutely stupid things just because she can.
But sheâs friendly and sheâs warm and she laughs at bad jokes and loves good food. Sheâll have your back in a bad situation even if she doesnât particularly care for you because the cause is bigger than petty squabbles. She can be a little sarcastic, a little crude, and she curses like a sailor.
She tries not to dwell on things too much and move forward from trauma. But this means she usually doesnât carve out the time to, you know, cope with the trauma.
Standing around 5â8â, give or take a smidge, Kailani seems taller, more intimidating, than she actually is. Itâs mainly in the way she carries herself, tall and proud (though, to some, perhaps smug). Not of any one thing in particular, she just thinks sheâs cool as hell. Out of armor, sheâs decently muscular with thick thighs and arms. She doesnât work out, itâs just from all the Titan-ing.
Her hair is naturally auburn, darker in the winter, lighter in the summer. Her freckles, the reverse. Sometimes she wears it short, sometimes she lets it grow out. On more than one occasion sheâs rocked a side-shave.
Sheâs got green eyes and a smattering of scars from her life before resurrection. The first joint on her right middle finger is bent, like an injury in a previous life left it that way permanently. A small scar sits over the knuckle, but she has no issues actually using that finger.
