Loud and unashamed of it Fitz possess one of the biggest ego known to mankind. He doesn’t bash away from the spotlight, he hungers for the attention of others even. Unfortunately for those who do choose to talk to him about a topic, other then himself, Fitz is somewhat of a dullard,he doesn’t have any basic grasp of elementary level of knowledge, any deep discussions of politics, culture, music, or arts fly past his head so his conversation are mostly shallow at best. Despite his cowardice, his lack of wits, and general lack of competency, you’ll be hard to find someone who strives for a higher level of fame then Fitz does, and willing to risk it all for to become an immortalized hero.

Background: Charlatan

For someone who talks about themself at the extent Fitz does, he tends to shy away from the truth of his origins. Oh sure Fitz will answer if asked, but the answer will most definitely be a wild lie he spun on the spot.

The lies Fitz spins spans and varies from being a secret prince, to being bestowed with a epic life long quest, or that he was created from the very ripple from The Surge. From what anyone could tell the last fib could very much be true because Fitz seemed to just pop out of existence after The Surge. Whispers started getting passed down about how a pretty entertaining drow who would pop up at seemingly random taverns across the country, regaling any willing ear with his tales of his heroic and brave adventures, that grew more, and more outlandish then the next. It was a good source of entertainment when you had nothing better to do but drink and laugh.

But the truth couldn’t be farther from the lies Fitz told. He grew up nothing more than a small street urchin crawling the streets of  Lumivaara shadows. Fitz was unrecognizable then, nothing more than a small ball of dirt and grim, taking charitable pity, and work whenever handed to him to survive. But being nothing, and gaining nothing couldn’t be a survival strategy for long. Luck came his way in time when a travelling entertainer, picked him up from rotting on the streets to become a ‘stagehand’ in his acts.

The entertainer was nothing but an over glorified charlatan, they couldn’t do nothing more than flashy sleight of hands to entertain the more simpler folks, he couldn’t juggle or do anything to amazingly amusing,  but his true ability came in weaving a story of great heroes so charming it would capture anyone who would lend an ear. Which proved to be plenty of distraction to say...let a small elf child pickpockets of unsuspecting audience members.

Fitz was nothing more than a glorified thieves tool for the entertainer, but he was content. He got a hot meal every day, a safe place to sleep, he got to travel the lands outside the dirty streets of a city he thought he was going to die, and everyday he got to listen to mesmerizing tales from the entertainer.

The entertainer had grew into a mentor figure for Fitz, he made it seemed like glory and adventure was a possibility for Fitz’s future, even if he wasn’t all that special. Sure as the year grew Fitz realized, without any real strength, grace, or magical powers that was a long shot of a dream, but he had something that he didn’t possess before, hope.

It ended in tragedy when Fitz was budding into teenhood, After what they thought was a successful night of tales, they were chased and cornered down by an angered town mob. They strung the entertainer up with rope into a tree, and began to beat him black and bloodied. The Entertainer years of deceit had finally caught up to him, and this was his punishment for it.

It would have been an even more tragic end if it was not for the sudden ripple of magic that washed over the country, the power resonating within Fitz and activating his dormant abilities as a Sorcerer, causing the young elf to splutter out bursts of uncontrollable magic in shock causing the mob to run away in fear.

Fitz managed to cut the entertainer down from the tree, but it was too late, the damage was severe and no one in the nearby town would be willing to help out the charlatan. The entertainer confessed in his final moments how he wished just any of his tales were true, But because he had seen the potential of Fitz power awaken in that moment, and requested Fitz not to turn into a travelling liar like him, but to go out and be an adventurer so amazing it could rival the lies he spun. And with that, the Fitz savior passed away.

The problem with that request though, for years Fitz had played the part of constantly hiding and running he had turned into a coward. But fueled with grief and resolve to honor the entertainer’s wish. There was a lesson that had been ingrained into him from the entertainer from the start, pretend and lie until you become, and he was going to live the lie that he was a brave, dazzling hero until it became true.

Fitz began his travel back to Lumivaara, as a good starting point as any to become a legendary hero would be to register with the adventurer’s guild. Along the way when he would stop at taverns, he would start spinning stories of adventures like his mentor had in the past but with the stories starring him as the main hero. It was a way build up a reputation among other adventurers, and a shield of false confidence that he so desperately needed. He was determined to live up to his lies one day at least so he began to write them all down, sort of as a pre prophecy autobiography. He didn’t mean for it to build up too much but whether it was due to his natural character to be where the wind blew him, or his terrible sense of directions he ended up  Lumivaara 5 years later then he intended to, and with a books of lies thicker than both his forearms combined.
