chinoike yuzu is the daughter of two fabric merchants from kumogakure who immigrated to konoha shortly before she was born. they are apart of a group of people distantly related to the nearly extinct chinoike clan of the land of hot water, reinstated because of their daughter's possession of the ketsuryūgan.

chinoike yuzu was born in konohagakure to two fabric merchants, immigrants from kumogakure who'd moved in search of better commerce in the leaf village. she is a reinstated member of the chinoike clan and one of three known living possessors of the ketsuryūgan. she has one younger sister named chinoike mikan who is also a shinobi.

yuzu most frequently uses earth release techniques in conjunction with taijutsu and ninja tool use. she is the most naturally gifted on her team at genjutsu but prefers to take a direct approach when confronting opponents. this sets her apart from her teammates and marks her as the ‘tank’ of the team. 

due to her kekkai genkai's propensity for genjutsu, it's ability to emotionally manipulate targets and it's talent at extracting the truth, yuzu serves the village as an anbu in the interrogation unit. the times she is called into service are rare and neither her family nor the other members of her polycule are aware that she is one. her mask is a bear.

she is a member of the current iteration of team seven along with her teammates, uzumaki tetsuya and uchiha asahi, and their jonin, aburame hisoka. she and her two teammates are in a relationship with each other and have been since they were genin. her parents don't particularly mind their daughter's relationship even if they themselves don't understand it. 

yuzu is a responsible, hard-working young kunoichi and has a strong sense of tradition. she gets along well with older village members and the parents and grandparent of her significant others. in particular, she and lady uchiha (uchiha sakura) maintain a friendly relationship. whenever her parents receive a textile order from the uchiha clan, she always goes in person to drop it off for the purpose of spending time with the elder.
