Hero Stats

Hero Name: Seraphim

Quirk:  Midas Touch — Seraph is able to channel her golden “celestial flame” through a single host at a time by maintaining physical contact with it. The host can be any object or creature- anything she can tangibly set her hand on she can conjure her flame through. She herself can even be the host so long as she’s touching her own skin with her hand. Both Seraph and the host are completely immune to being hurt by the celestial flame, but anyone and anything else is fair game- however the clothes/accessories a host is wearing tend to be an anomaly included in the host's halo of protection.

Limitations:

Focusing her flames through a host takes enormous concentration on her part. Distraction will make the flame burn weaker & eventually sputter out. Size and material makeup of the host determines the difficulty of their use; Smaller inanimate objects are much easier to channel in relation to an adult human or animal- thus her tendency toward using only a sword. Even so, successfully engaging in battle requires her concentration split between her host and her foe. She utilizes a shield to make up for any lapse in her guard- sometimes even channeling her flame through it too for a quick and dangerous battering ram.

She cannot project the fire at a distance from her in any way, only channel it; and it burns placidly from the host like a torch. Just because she and her host are immune to harm from her fire doesn’t mean the environment around her is- her fire burns very hot. Lighting up her flame recklessly can and will result in things unintentionally catching fire at an accidental touch, but it won't continue to spread like normal fire; it stays burning in place where the contact with the host was made and only there until it burns out.

Her celestial flame is also different from regular fire in that once it leaves physical contact with the host it has a guaranteed finite lifespan. It burns hot, but it doesn't burn for long- and when it's connection is severed with her it burns out within 10 seconds.

Primary Course Focus: Pro Hero

Personals

Personality: Ever since her childhood Seraph has been a bold and headstrong person, asserting herself without any self restraint and often getting disciplined for it. She’s not out to intentionally cause trouble- her many scuffles with others as a kid were ever the result of her being too outspoken and headstrong to back down from anything and anyone who would step up to her, and that stuck with her growing up over the years. She won’t be as quick to throw a punch to defend her own point of view on matters anymore, but her reckless impulsiveness still kicks in and gets her into her own self made trouble. She means well in everything she does; ever the boisterous optimist, she’ll readily befriend just about anyone that enters her line of sight- so watch out.

Likes: Blistering hot days, sword fight movie scenes, spicy food
Dislikes: Being cooped up indoors, long car rides, plain boiled vegetables

History: Seraph was born in rural Iowa, raised by her mother and never knowing her father, nor ever wanting to. She grew up helping her mom as a farmhand across various different farms out in the fields until her mom spontaneously moved them both east to Boston when she was less than halfway through her junior year of high school.

Re-adjusting from rural Iowa to the city life of Boston was incredibly difficult for Seraph but as soon as she graduated high school she turned all her attention to getting a job to help her mom pay the bills. She got a lucky break when a photographer taking shots around the city caught a photo of Seraph and approached her asking to take a couple more in order to use in a big name magazine. The money she got from those photos was enough to get her mom moved into a nice house and help her find a new job she could more comfortably support herself with.

Seraph was able to indulge in something she’d always wanted to learn but never had the means to do; take sword fighting lessons. Several other photographers approached her as time went on but she got tired of the posing and the posturing and sought out a warehouse job to get back into the flow of the manual hands-on work she missed from her old rural life. Being a model was not for her.

The events circulating Schuyler University eventually drew her attention, bringing her consideration to hero work for the first time in her life. As things began to escalate more and more Seraph found her mom a rental to stay at outside of Boston in order to keep her safe and turned to the university, using her various connections from her time and popularity spent as a model- as well as a recommendation from her sword fighting instructor- in an attempt to get enrolled as soon as possible.

Extras:

  • She fights with a rapier-style sword and uses a shield designed to collapse to wearable size on her wrist for easy transportation (ref coming soon)
