otter'paw was born in a time of chaos. cats died left and right and the clans were more focused on stopping the cause to the chaos then caring about newborn kits. the cause of the chaos?

his father, formerly known as addersnap, though during that time was known as adderstar. He had cause the deaths of dozens of cats, including one of the leaders and a deputy before being killed after being pushed into a river by his mate. the clans took a lot of time recovering from his reign, while otter'paw’s mother went back to her regular life as a queen.

otter'paw’s father had gathered up a group of rouges, and continued to grow his numbers in an attempt to start a war between the clans. He was  successful, though the one most affected by his madness was otter and his mother. he is now feared for his father’s actions and while he lives in a large group of cats, he feels lonely, almost completely empty, somewhat. though he doesn’t blame his clanmates for fearing him, his father was horrid. What he does blame is himself, for feeling so alone when his father’s actions were inexcusable. because of his loneliness, he can be quite naive and easily manipulated, being loyal without a fault despite being a child.

otter'paw’s mother passed away shortly after his apprenticing, though no information concerning her death has been disclosed to the clan besides the leader and medicine cat. some cats in the clan blame otter'paw for his mother’s death, calling him a ‘curse on the clan’ though despite being hated by a large majority of the clan, the leader spared him, considering he hasn’t grown to become like his father and hasn’t done anything wrong. otter has a deep understanding of loss, which is surprising considering his age, but he won’t ever forget his father’s actions.

“it isn’t fair that I have to pay the price for my father’s actions.. yet there are lots of things that aren’t fair. It isn’t fair that so many cats have been left without parents because of him, that some cats won’t ever be able to see their kits grow because of him. I understand, I really, truly do.. but maybe, just maybe, I can get a friend? that is, if anyone would want to be friends with a stain on an otherwise peaceful clan.”
