mel is often in the background somewhere, she hardly ever says anything and if she does, it's not with her actual voice, but with a robotic one that comes from her electronic implants. even something as simple as talking normally now feels alien and too much for her. so she keeps emotional distance by making herself into almost an avatar - a doll-like representation of herself, almost like a marionette.
she recently joined the crew of the 777 jokers, who are all older and more established than her. they've barely known each other but were she emotionally open at all, she'd admit to herself that they almost feel like family already.
her personal hacking platform is named "meopi", it is a little doll mascot that dances and plays soft music box melodies as she steals sensitive information from simple to heavily-guarded systems.
she keeps her facial expressions to a minimum, a learned behavior from her earlier life, where making herself invisible was the best she could do to protect herself. the less she let her emotions show, the less they could be used against her.
she transitioned in her late teens with help from somewhat questionable individuals - but it worked out for her. it was better than the alternative.
to someone looking more carefully at her, there are points where she almost looks like a swan.
