Salani

Arguably one of my earliest ocs (ever since 3rd grade!!) but I didn't have art of her until now, due to how embarrassing my creative process about her were. (She started as a DBZ fan oc oml)

Born in the era of British Hong Kong, she is a daughter to a reclusive martial artist and an Italian tourist; the latter who became one of his concubine after being found ashore his private island when her ship en route to Hong Kong had sunk. 

Growing up, Salani has often been mocked by her many half-siblings for looking like a foreigner.  She had old bruises and scars from “proving her worth over and over”; periodically sparring with them on their father's training grounds with no holds barred. Her father himself,remained as unimpressed and would still be as harsh whenever Salani slipped just a little. The only close companionship she held for so long were with just three of her siblings; her older half-brother Luo Zhi, half-sister Shizuko (who sympathizes in a sense of what’s it like to be an outsider), and the youngest Mo Hsiu Mei (who is too young to understand her family's dynamic).

Having started as young as 12, she worked as a bodyguard/spy for the rich, and later as a hitwoman in her young adult years. So she wouldn’t compromise her civilian life, she oft carries a mask whilst working. She has done shady deeds for government officials and would prefer not meeting them in the public market “naked”.

Her preferred fighting style is hand-to-hand combat, while weapons such as throwing knives are a last resort. It’s family pride to solely rely on skill, rather than the sharpness of the tool to carry out a mission; and it’ll pain her deeply if she had to break that oath.
