Blu is the daughter of the Blue Fairy! Even though she graduated from Auradon Prep a few years back, she's back in town working as a substitute teacher while her mom is out of town on business! It's a fun gig for a lot of reasons (o-one of which goes by the name of King Beast), but one of her favorite parts is that she gets to hang out with her favorite cousin, Jane (with cousin being used in the Close Family Friend sense, not the shared genetic material sense). Blu wants more than anything else to be a positive influence in Jane's life because, frankly, she's not too big a fan of the way her Aunt Fairy Godmother is doing the whole parenting thing. Not that she'd ever start anything over it. So, maybe Blu's influencing methods veer more towards showing Jane how to get around her mom's rules. You can't prove anything!!
One of the points of solidarity between Blu and Jane is that they're both magic users! Blu isn't great at it though... all she knows how to do is make inanimate objects come alive. This, predictably, can lead to a wacky situation from time to time.
In addition, Blu's natural tendency is to look for the good in everyone. Even if it's buried deep, deep, deep, deep, deeeeeeeep down, you can bet your boots she'll find it!! This, dare I say, is the case with a certain two scoundrels by the name of Maleficent and Hades. Hmmm, wonder how THAT'S gonna go....... [thinking guy emoji]
