They don't remember but originally Mittens was a real cat, more specifically their pet cat. In their earlier childhood Mittens was a pet cat their mother and father bought together. When she left Mittens was left behind with them and they both were under their father's care. They were close to Mittens and he was often a big source of comfort for them. Unfortunatly, they witnessed Mittens pass in a brutal way which eventually resulted in an alter being created bassed off of him.
