Personality

Ryder is the mastermind behind the villain known as Lacrymosa. They are a telepath with incredible abilities, able to control people entirely from hundreds of miles away. They blend into normal society quite well, keeping under the radar by having a cover life as a barista in the Crossroads District. 

Having a masters degree in robotic engineering, as well as a bachelors in computer sciences, Ryder is well versed in the world of making and maintaining technology. They studied with a focus on cybernetic enhancements for the human body and currently maintain their research in a secret lab beneath their home. They often experiment on themself, hiding cybernetics into their intricate tattoos. 

Ryder is often known to people as “Roach,” an affectionate nickname given to them by one of their coworkers at their barista job. They are ambivalent to the nickname, and refuse to admit they have any sort of affection for the people that call them that. 

They are closed off and aloof, often not knowing how to interact with people and instead shutting down. When speaking with people, they are often short and to the point, littering their sentences with snide remarks and insults. As such, they do not tend to speak often. Despite this, they are very caring to those they deem worthy enough, and loyal to a fault. Animals have a particular soft spot with them, and they have many pets. They are extremely paranoid and let their anxieties control them, often indulging in various vices to alleviate their fears. They are a frequent smoker as a result.  

Appearance

   Standing at 4’11”, Ryder is petite in stature and rather frail. Freckles completely litter their pale skin, with an occasional darker mole standing out amongst them. Their hair is a darker chestnut brown, with the front hairline bleached and toned to as close to white as they can manage. Their eyes are large and green, hiding behind golden-bronze hexagonal glasses. 

Various piercings litter their ears, and they have two snakebites on the right side of their bottom lip. Circuit board tattoos line the sides of their jawline, as well as their upper arms on both sides. An intricate neck tattoo covers their throat from the bottom of their jawline to below the Adam’s apple area. They have a large hip piece of a centipede along their left side, though it is easily hidden with higher waisted pants. They also have a small matching tattoo with their partner, Eden: a small syringe on their inner ankle, a reminder of what they went through together. 

Their wardrobe consists largely of techwear and streetwear, with various graphic tees and joggers complimented by larger jackets and statement shoes. Compression gloves and socks often find their way into their fashionable getups, as do a variety of canes. A good amount of their wardrobe is stolen pieces from Eden, despite the extreme difference in aesthetics between the two as well as the size difference.

Ryder's other half. Eden is a complicated relationship, both a manipulated victim of Ryder's telepathy and also a willing participant in it. They are incredibly codependent and do not know how to operate life without the other. They have been close since childhood.

Born in the United States, Salem grew up in a medium sized city with his family.
