Bethesda started its life as a spellbound servitor, enchanted for the sole purpose of reaping the fields day in and day out without tire. As time went on, something changed in the scythe, and it started to become aware and alive in its own way. Eventually it gained consciousness of its own, and left its farm in search of greater things. It was a good leaving; its creator let it go with a smile and a warm heart and the gift of a scarf, to use as arms of its own. In its journeys Bethesda has procurred many small items of reverence, which it keeps close by its side in a small bag. These include: rocks, feathers, bits of bone, plant matter, scraps of steel, discarded toys, and other strange little found objects. Musical instruments and things that make sound are some of its favourites, including bells, whistles, and wind chimes.

Though its friends are few, Bethesda is known as being a gentle soul. It loves to hug and touch with its soft silk arms, and it feels a great need to let people know just how special they are. It loves articles of clothing and greatly admires hats, scarves, and dresses. It wishes one day to have a voice of its own, but gets on well enough without, resorting to chalk if necessary to get its point across.
