Purity the Hedgehog

PERSONALITY AND INTERESTS

Purity is an incredibly confident female who lacks hesitation in her decisions. She is a skilled and athletic Zone Archaeologist / Historian and travels the world bringing home rare and mysterious items to add to her vast collection of pricey artefacts. Purity adores learning about the history of her findings and will happily return valuables to the intended owners/museums depending on their origin. 

Purity isn't afraid to be a shot caller and can be quite demanding. She’s intelligent, knows what she wants and sticks to her guns. Purity tends to be reclusive and dubious of others and prefers to mask her emotions with a cynical reflection. She can be cold, scornful and assertive of her needs and isn’t afraid to speak her mind or expose a person if they act irrational or unfairly towards her.

Purity finds pleasure in luxury and surrounds herself with art, music and fashion. When not craving adventure or seeking lost civilizations, she enjoys stylish cocktail auctions and chic aesthetics with Inés. Purity becomes more open to the concept of having friends and gradually confides to those she feels she can trust and depend on.

ORIGIN
_{Where it all started...}

Purity the Hedgehog grew up in a hidden Laboratory Facility, deep under the waters of the Emerald Ocean. She was artificially In vitro developed as a research project by the scientist Professor N. Stanton, a crazed follower of the long abandoned Space Colony Ark. Stanton over many years hacked and downloaded multiple diary entries and research notes from dozens of different scientists. Classified information on Artificial Chaos creatures, Chaos Emeralds and Ancient Gizoids littered his home… all of which he used in countless attempts to create his own specimens. 

Stanton unfortunately wasn’t a skilled scientist and his ability to keep his projects sustainable was difficult. His only 3 successful specimens had catastrophic side effects to their creation and required long periods of painful exposure to poorly maintained lab equipment. 

Purity spent many of her younger years attached to wires and gadgets, monitoring her general well being while simultaneously pumping Chaos Energy into her body month after month.

Growing up, Stanton would fill Purity with hope and excitement that one day they would live with other scientists and rebuild the Space Colony Ark. She admired his love for the colony but slowly grew fearful and scared of his deranged mentality. Year by year, Stanton was losing grip with reality and developed a corrupt hatred towards GUN. At the age of 16, Purity confronted Stanton about leaving the facility and wanted to experience the world for what it is. In a rage, Stanton locked her into suspended animation, terrified that she would leave him or expose his dark career. 

Purity was left in suspended animation until the events of Sonic Adventure 1; when the Egg Carrier crashed into the ocean. The impact into the water shattered critical pipes and components that lead to the facility Stanton and Purity lived in. As a result, the entire base encountered disastrous failures to many of the computer systems and pressurization of the base. Each room quickly filled with water, activating the Emergency Evacuation System and releasing Purity from her pod. Purity desperately scrambled to an escape capsule, shooting her out into the ocean. 

Stanton has never been seen since...

Washed up and Alone...

Purity is washed up onto the beach of Emerald Coast. Concerned local civilians thankfully came to her aid, one of which was a kind and well known female goat who lived on the outskirts of the city.
In a daze and having difficulty walking, Purity was carried by Inés and another civilian to a chair where she sat silently for a few minutes. Declining any requests to visit the local hospital, Purity didn’t know what else to say. She observed the shoreline, fascinated by the hustle and bustle of the beach and hotels surrounding her. New sights and sounds, smells and sensations. This was her first taste of freedom. 

Inés was intrigued with the strange attire Purity was wearing. With her experience in fashion and materials, she’d never seen this style of clothing and knew there was something particularly different about the confused hedgehog. Interested in knowing more about her, Inés offered shelter. Over time, Purity developed a strong friendship with Inés and was introduced to a very luxurious perspective of life. 

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

Due to the multiple experiments and limited breakthroughs in her development, Purity has a severely damaged nervous system specific to temperatures. In prolonged exposure to intense hot / cold environments, they can become life-threatening to her if she isn't prepared with the right attire or hydration.

Purity is very weak in her upper body. Her strength lies specifically in her legs and thighs. Purity is agile and nimble and her powerful leg muscles give her the ability to leap great distances.

Purity has the ability to locate the Chaos Emeralds no matter where on the planet they are situated. Purity can turn Super but for literally a second. Her body is unable to hold the vast amounts of power and her damaged nervous system rejects the energy after a short burst. This failure with her body makes Purity incredibly sad. 

RELATIONSHIP

Purity the Hedgehog is in a relationship with Aggressive the Hedgehog; a taller and broader hedgehog than herself. Purity met Aggressive as a result of him intruding into her relic collection and attempting to steal a rare untested orange Chaos Drive. Purity immediately confronted Aggressive and engaged with him verbally, leading into a physical struggle. In an attempt to escape, Aggressive used the Orange Drive on his gloves and forced Purity off him. Unaware of how strong the drive is, he overshot a punch and destroyed a number of Purity's valuable items.

Aggressive removed the drive and apologised for unintentionally destroying some of her rare and valuable tokens of adventure. Over time in an agreement to help her research the Orange Drive, Aggressive becomes a test subject to her interest in understanding the Drive's existence. 

Their relationship builds quickly and they became infatuated with each other's company and history. Though incredibly fearful of Aggressive's routes and his relationship with GUN officials, she admires how much of a soft and sweet person he is given his size and strength. Aggressive wins her heart through being an incredibly kind and defensive friend and also feeding her filthy take away food when she's stressed out with research.
