Personality
Minnow can be easily described by the phrase 'there's a method to the madness.' Everything she does has a plan to it. She is organized, goal focused, and paranoid. She's often seen as quick witted and a bit rude, fast to insult or pass judgement due to her own self doubts and insecurities.
Despite how prickly she can be, Minnow is desperate for companionship. She wants someone she can trust, though has a hard time letting her defenses drop enough to let anyone close.
About
Changelings are the children of hags, a group of witches often categorized by their cunning and proclivity for evil magics. A changeling child is given up at birth to be raised by a host family- acting as brood parasite of sorts. Once a changeling grows old, they're called back to their mothers in order to be given their rite of passage. Only then will changelings become hags themselves.
Minnow Magbrook is one of those changelings. A child of a hag and a halfling, she is short and lithe, easily disguised among her halfling kin. She was raised on a small homestead, being taken in by a halfling family and put to work as all Magbrook children were. She was trained in the art of textile manufacturing, spending much of her time processing sheep's wool into of fabric.
Having the blood of a hag meant many things, but a major one was her inherit magical abilities. Even as a young child she took to the arcane arts, using her skills to make quick work of her chores. She found herself a master of thread- cloth became extra limbs, threads and lengths of twine easily doing tasks such as flipping book pages or holding a pencil.
Of course, not all good things for changelings last. Upon her sixteenth birthday Minnow was called back by her mother, a green hag living in the woods just outside of her home. At first she tried to ignore her mother's call, shutting herself in and closing off access to the outside. The more she avoided her destiny though the worse life became. Animals began to go missing. Children on the homestead vanished. Crops died out. Finally, Rita, the elderly woman who had raised Minnow, was slain in the night.
Minnows escape was out of a mix of emotions. Cowardice, fear, guilt, and pride. In the night she fled the Hammond homestead, escaping into the woods and never turning back. Now she travels alone, picking up odd sewing jobs to keep herself fed and housed. Though she never stays put for long.
