HALCYON .

the frightened prince. 

the cowardly sovereign. 

halcyon is an example to be murmured past the lips of gossiping royals who see little to no potential within him. a pitiful thing that they scoff at.  he is quiet, withdrawn, painfully shy, and of a tender heart. the complete opposite to his father, who bears as much strength as his grandfather. deep inside, he does not wish to bear the title of king. the mere mention of the crown that will eventually come to rest upon his head in ceremony terrifies him and there are days where he wishes time would reverse itself to the more delicate days where he was much younger. yet that is impossible and here he sits, the age of 15, with the understanding that each day, he is trained to balance the act of his people and their protection. 

sword fighting is a hassle as halcyon yelps and cowers when anyone charges him. hand to hand combat is rough as he does keep a close eye on what his enemy is doing. it's a slow going thing that earns the sympathetic sighs of the guards who bear witness to his daily training. 

should assassins ever come, they always seem to be more drawn to halcyon than his father. simply because he seems to be more easy prey. easy to kidnap, easy to barter coin for. 

though he has mostly grown from the habitual need of flitting to hide behind his father's leg as he did when he was 5 and continued to do so for 5 more years, he still has heavy hesitance towards royal duties and conflict frightens him. 

he would much rather be in his gardens with a book or out in the town to view the market.
