Vert Greene

Vert Greene is a male kangaroo born in 280 ADD in the city of Calypto on the desert jungle island of Marsepilus. He grew up learning archery and tracking before his parents sent him to the Spectrum Academy in Grand Concentra City at age 17 for his mischievous nature. Eventually he would become an important figure in the Resistance lead by Hunter Pantone.

Personality

Vert is a strong-willed and determined kangaroo who places value on keeping himself physically capable of handling what life throws at him. He prefers to be a leader, and has trouble compromising on plans because of this.  His pride in doing things himself can make him come across as stubborn at times. In a casual setting, he's generally laid-back but always tries to stay in control of the room. His smooth-talking nature also makes him flirtatious towards those he finds attractive, but he is always dedicated and respectful to whoever he is romantically involved with.

Abilities

He is an expert marksman, specializing in practice with a bow he crafted himself.

He also has close-combat skills, adept at wielding a machete in combat.

He is physically strong, and fit to take on activities that require endurance and stamina.

His interest in parkour in Calypto makes him experienced in tracking, both in urban and natural settings.

Design

Vert's main fur is a tropical green, with a lighter grass green going down his belly and along his paws and underside of his feet. His floppy hair is the same forest green as the tips of his ears and tail, as well as the triangular markings on his cheeks. An arrow-shaped design is on his right shoulder. The insides of his ears are light green and he has bright green eyes.

Attire

Vert's standard outfit consists of dark green sports pants and sleeveless shirt with neon green highlights. A tribal diamond-shaped pendant hangs around his neck. Strapped to his wrists and knees are diamond shaped steel armor. Faux leather shin guards wrap around his legs, and he wears a faux leather sleeve around the base of his tail. Strapped to a belt around his waist is a large satchel, and a green quiver of arrows slings over his right shoulder.

Story

Early Life

Vert grew up in the city of Calypto, an advanced society on the desert jungle island of Marsepilus. There he practiced parkour and urban tracking, working as a Security Ranger for his parents' architectural design company, which specialized in exploiting the abundant eucalyptus trees on the island for infrastructure. 

Tired of following orders just to protect money, Vert began travelling throughout the island on his own, honing his tracking skills. To calm his rebellious nature, his parents enrolled him in the Spectrum Academy of Grand Concentra City at the age of 17. There, he was assigned his Spectrum Squadron, consisting of an arctic fox named Cerulean Azura and a clouded leopard named Rosa Amaranth, as well as a tech expert maned wolf named Maron Umber. Together, they trained, Vert specializing in archery.

First Mission

After training together for several months, Vert, Cerulean, and Rosa were assigned their first field mission--to locate and protect a cheetah named Hunter Pantone, who was believed to have important information for the Northern Empire against the Sur Kingdoms. They eventually tracked him down to the Fjord Reaches of the northern coast of the continent. Vert explained they were sent to protect him, and though he initially refused to go with the Squadron, they were soon attacked by a red panda named Crimson Hong, who'd been dispatched by the Sur Kingdoms to capture him. With Cerulean distracting the red panda, Vert and Rosa were able to lead Hunter to safety. Hunter finally realized they were telling the truth, and explained they would have to charter a skyship in the nearby town to escape in.

Not long after, they, along with Cerulean, were headed back to Grand Concentra City. On the way back, they heard of an attack on the Spectrum Academy, which left little survivors. Vert worried they now had nowhere to go, until Hunter offered to have them stay with him on his houseboat in the city.

Joining the Resistance

The four lived together for a year before they learned the attack on their school was a conspiracy. Hunter then revealed to the Squadron that their initial mission to protect him had been a lie, and that he'd known about the conspiracy the whole time and the city was trying to kill him. Cerulean and Rosa seemed to accept the news, but Vert was furious. Hunter then proposed they form a small group of freedom fighters to stop corruption in the city, and while Cerulean and Rosa agreed, Vert felt too betrayed to stay with them any longer.

Vert spent the next few days looking for work in the Carbon District, a section of the city intended for the wealthy. He had decided to use his experience as security to help him make money protecting the wealthy. During his search, Hunter had tracked him down, pointing out the kangaroo's new goal would be meaningless and that corruption would continue to spread if someone didn't help. Vert knew he was right, and finally decided to join Hunter, but several bystanders recognized the cheetah from his wanted notices. Not long after, the authorities were upon them, and after an initial fight, Vert and Hunter were able to escape aboard the subway to the poorer districts.

Once back at the houseboat, Hunter introduced Vert to their newest accomplice, a skunk assassin named Lavender Amethyst. Together, with Cerulean and Rosa, they began making plans to save the city.

Relationships

Vert is currently in a romantic relationship with Rosa Amaranth.

He is best friends with Hunter Pantone. They often train in sword-fighting together.
