Rosa Amaranth

Rosa Amaranth is a female clouded leopard born in 280 ADD in the independent tropical rainforest nation of Selvada. When she was 17, the Northern Empire attempted to buy Selvada's land so it could tear down the rainforest for resources. Rosa volunteered to attend the Spectrum Academy in Grand Concentra City in return for the Empire to leaving her country alone. Eventually she would become a prominent figure in the Resistance lead by Hunter Pantone, using his movement to fight for environmental protection.

Personality

Rosa is a headstrong and self-confident leopard who is willing to speak when others won't. She is very protective of the environment and believes anyone wishing its destruction for personal gain should be removed from power. She is occasionally snarky and sarcastic, but never with malice, otherwise she is generally friendly and open to those she meets. In romantic situations she will often be flirtatious but will always be clear on her boundaries.

Her background from a matriarchal society also makes her a strong advocate for gender equality for all of Concentra, and she is not hesitant to stand up for herself if others dismiss her for being female.

Abilities

Rosa is a master at stealth and keeping to the shadows. She specializes in shurikens to quickly silence her enemies while remaining hidden.

Growing up in a society that dwells in the trees, Rosa is an expert at climbing and finding ways to keep her balance in unusual places.

Her kind nature makes her patient and gentle when handling wildlife, and she is knowledgeable on many varieties of plants and how to care for them. This knowledge is also useful when she practices alchemy, she is able to use the plants she collects to create a wide variety of potions and poisons.

Design

Rosa has mainly light pink fur, with darker pink spots and patterns running along her body. Her fluffy long tail has seven rounded patches running down the center, with a pink tip at the end. Her ears and snout are the same dark pink, ending with a lighter pink nose. Her cranberry-colored hair is kept short. The insides of her ears are light pink, and she has magenta eyes.

Attire

Rosa's standard outfit consists of pink sweatpants with red stripe designs running down the sides. She wears a short black top with pink highlights that exposes her midriff. Two purple shoulder plates on top act as armor. Her paws and feet have black fingerless gloves with magnetic properties that let her grip surfaces easier. A similar strap is attached to the end of her tail.

Occasionally Rosa will also sport a pink cloak in colder climates over her standard outfit. It is equipped with a mask that protects her snout.

Story

Early Life

Rosa grew up in the independent nation of Selvada, a matriarchal society located in the rainforests between the Northern Empire and the Sur Kingdoms. There, she spent much time in the trees practicing her hunting skills and learning about the native wildlife. Over time, she became respected in her community as someone incredibly gifted in understanding nature. And on her quinceañera, her family gifted her with her own laboratory where she could collect plant and insect samples to study. For the next two years, she became experienced with how ingredients interacted, and synthesized various types of potions for her community to use.

When she was 17, Selvada attracted the interest of the Northern Empire, which threatened to buy the country to use their rainforests for resources that would support its war with the Sur Kingdoms. After many negotiations between the Matriarch of Selvada and the Empire's Council of Executives, it seemed the beautiful forests were going to be given up. But Rosa offered a new deal--she would teach the Empire her knowledge of alchemy, which involved many strategies that preserved the nature her ingredients originated from, as long as it left her country alone. Backed with overwhelming references of her value from her community, the Empire accepted the deal.

Attending the Spectrum Academy

Rosa left her homeland to attend the Spectrum Academy, where she traded her alchemical knowledge for formal warrior training. There, she was assigned her Spectrum Squadron, which included a kangaroo named Vert Greene, an arctic fox named Cerulean Azura, and their supervisor, a maned wolf named Maron Umber. Rosa trained under the path of the Ninja, honing her stealth skills and developing her own unique set of shurikens.

First Mission

After training together for several months, Rosa, Vert, and Cerulean were assigned their first field mission--to locate and protect a cheetah named Hunter Pantone, who was believed to have important information for the Northern Empire against the Sur Kingdoms. They confronted him at the docks of Grand Concentra City, though the cheetah managed to escape on his houseboat. Maron then instructed them to take a skyship up north to the Fjord Reaches, where they'd be able to intercept him. Upon locating him, Vert explained they were sent to protect him, and though he initially refused to go with the Squadron, they were soon attacked by a red panda named Crimson Hong, who'd been dispatched by the Sur Kingdoms to capture him. With Cerulean distracting the red panda, Rosa and Vert were able to lead Hunter to safety. Hunter finally realized they were telling the truth, and explained they would have to charter a skyship in the nearby town to escape in.

Not long after, they, along with Cerulean, were headed back to Grand Concentra City. On the way back, they heard of an attack on the Spectrum Academy, with reports blaming the Sur Kingdoms. Hunter then revealed to the Squadron their true mission had been to protect the information Maron had given him, which contained all the evidence needed to expose the Empire as the true culprit of the attack. Rosa worried about having to return to her homeland now that they now had nowhere to go, until Hunter offered to have them stay with him on his houseboat in the city.

Joining the Resistance

They lived with Hunter for a year, before he offered the squad a new choice--to join him as a cell of freedom fighters to expose corruption in the city. Vert was reluctant, and decided to leave them, but Rosa and Cerulean agreed to join. The next day, Hunter had assigned Rosa the task of collecting ingredients from various shops in the city so that she could begin to set up her own alchemy table in the houseboat. During her trip, she had caught the attention of one of Hunter's associates, a skunk assassin named Lavender Amethyst, who mistakenly believed Rosa was buying poisons to kill him. The skunk cornered her in an alley, and after a brief fight, Lavender had defeated the leopard. But upon revealing her true mission, Lavender apologized to Rosa and together they returned to Hunter, who formally introduced them to each other.

Relationships

Rosa is currently in a romantic relationship with Vert Greene.

She has become close with Lavender Amethyst. The two will occasionally practice training courses together.
