     an abnormal condition among nightwings which causes a dragon’s scales to spark easily, as well as making them more durable and slightly more brittle. these sparks are highly capable of starting fires, more so than usual sparks.

     flintscaled dragons, often simply called flintscales after the condition, are naturally resistant to fire. unlike blood egg-hatched mudwings, flintscales have a higher heat resistance, after which they are affected by flame just as other dragons.

     flintscales are recommended to carry with them a flame retardant, wear fireproof armor or clothing to insulate themselves, and be cautious around abrasive surfaces.

     an uncommon result of a nightwing / hivewing hybrid, thought to be a mutation between the nightwing dual bone horn and the hivewing triple chitinous horn genes, causing three horns made of bone.
