Profile

Klo’ohnù

A species name dedicated to this specimen. They live in the rainforest biome on an alien planet, where they are the apex carnivores predator in their biome. They use their orifices on the front of their torsos to emulate sounds of other species and the environment to attract or distract prey or other predators. They have a membrane display attached to the front of the face that both cover the interior maw and attract prey. Their two front facing limbs are segmented into three joint structures that they use to impact a powerful hit into their opponents, while their backward facing limbs are flesh based with muscles to strengthen forward movements. Their abdomen is a large segment/flesh hybrid that females use to hold their clutch and for the males to then carry the young eggs after being given from the females.

Species Name: Klo’ohnù

Biome: Alien Rainforest

Family Name: Coleoptera

Dietary: Carnivores

Sex: Not Available

Special Attribute: The ability to use the hollow structures on its top forward joints to emulate sounds through the two hollow orifices.

Main Colors: Blues/Greens/Yellows/Oranges

Males: Smaller than the females and their abdomen and membrane are used to attract a mate and to hold the females clutch for fertilization till the clutch is hatched. Males wander their biome for females and are the primary protector of the clutch. Once a female is found they will emulate her sound till the female either excepts or denies the male. If excepted, he will find a place for the clutch to stay and burrow a nest. The male stays with the clutch, as it is attached to his abdomen, and will not leave for food till hatched. It is the females job to then protect the male and the clutch as well as feed the male. Some males have died in the burrows when on watch. Once hatched the male will loose much mass in the abdomen for the young to then consume for the first few weeks. Once old enough the female will take over and leave the male. The male will then take time to get back to the way he was before and start over.

Females: The females are much larger than the males in size and strength. They are the most territorial of the sexes and will attack without being provoked. Once the female has excepted a male, she will lay her couch from her abdomen around the males abdomen and will protect the male in his burrow inside her territory at what ever cost. Females have been known to also kill the males they have chosen of when the clutch hatches and the young were early and under developed so the young can eat the corpse of the male for food. The female will then leave the male in his burrow and will continue to the be the primary protected till the young are old enough to live on their own.
