Profile
Bryncae is a headstrong shifter who's spent the last few years of her life working as a hired guard for a travelling caravan. Though generally a reliable worker, her quiet demeanor never left much of an impression on her cohort.
What was meant to be a routine job went terribly wrong when the merchant caravan that she was hired to protect was attacked by a corrupted dragon. She couldn’t take it down herself, especially with the rest of the guard fleeing or quickly being eliminated - but she did survive it long enough for help to arrive in the form of Talderyn. In the aftermath it came to light that the caravan had been transporting wines and other luxuries for a noble family rather than critical cargo like she had been led to believe, resulting in Bryncae attacking the surviving merchants and subsequently being ejected from the caravan. With her career being effectively decimated, she joins Talderyn and their stragglers to try and figure out her next steps.

Bryncae is not particularly trusting of any of her travel companions. She respects Felix as a member of the Luminaries, but does not think him to be particularly capable, believing him to be a tryhard who's in way over his head. She doesn't understand Talderyn - she accepts that they're very adept but they can't grasp their intentions, which leaves her feeling very uneasy. She remains wary of Minea, who’s far too energetic for her liking, and doesn’t really know what to do with Carnedd’s skittishness.
Surprisingly comfortable with Diot and Cadwgan, in part thanks to growing up so closely with livestock. Refuses to ride them, but is good at caring for them. One of the few people who can reliably manage Diot.

Bryncae was born and raised in the countryside along the foothills of Mt. Arnstel, training under her father to work as a livestock guardian alongside the rest of the family on their farm managing their goat herd. She is the middle child of 4 siblings - with an older brother and a younger set of twin brothers. Their mother set extremely high expectations for all of them, and while Bryncae did prove to be a reliable worker, she struggled to stand out amongst their siblings - especially with her refusal to take on the homemaker role that was expected of her. Once she came of age she left to work as a hired guard for travelling caravans, largely to avoid marriage discussions.
She spent much of her childhood wanting to become a member of the royal guard, but was born without powers and didn't seem to have a knack for learning magic. In any case, her parents couldn't have afforded to send her to train for such a role. She throws herself wholeheartedly into lowbrow guard work in its stead.

Though bright and hardworking, Bryncae is rather pessimistic. She has little faith in her own abilities, and is resistant to trying new things. She has a strong sense of justice and becomes quickly frustrated when she perceives things as wrong. She is rather intelligent and astute, but often blunders her words, so it's not unusual for others to think of her as dull. Her general demeanour could be described as stiff.
She’s all too aware of the general perception of her being a belligerent fool, and she tries to make herself small in response.
She doesn't have many friends to speak of - not now, nor historically. Socialising is something that she's always struggled with, she doesn't quite get people. This doesn't hugely bother her though, not now anyways - she prefers her own company.

Bryncae typically dresses in old well-worn clothing, being unable to afford anything new, and almost always wears a wolf collar while in her feral form. Her sword was previously purloined from a bandit.
Her feral form is typical for northern livestock guardians, though she doesn't belong to a defined family. She spends the majority of her time in her feral form - she doesn't seem particularly comfortable in her own skin.
