Velkies are a closed species currently exclusive to me and members of my RP server. They will not be released to the public until such time as a way to track the species has been figured out. Please keep in mind that while the species name and concept is mine, I don't own the idea of cats with big chunky hands or stick legs. Just don't copy my design 1-1 or call your character a velkie and you're good to create your own blorbo.

The Velkies are born from the reawakening of the Faded World.

When the shrine of the dead god began to weep and The Gate opened once more, the realm did not simply return to life. It panicked. After so long abandoned, the Faded World had forgotten the shape of living things. It remembered travelers, stories, grief, battles, laughter, and blood-red leaves drifting through impossible doorways, but it could no longer tell where reality ended and fiction began.

From that confusion, the first Velkies emerged.

They were not created intentionally. They formed as byproducts of the world’s first breath: living fragments of memory, imagination, shrine-magic, and faded story matter. Some say they crawled from the roots of the obsidian trees. Others say they were born from the tears of the nameless dead god. A few believe they are the Faded World’s attempt to make companions for itself, so it will never be left completely alone again.

Velkies are deeply tied to the state of the Faded World. Where travelers bring color, story, and emotion, Velkies grow stronger and more vivid. Where places are forgotten, abandoned, or stripped of meaning, they become quiet, pale, and ghostlike. They are not guardians in the traditional sense, but they are natural caretakers of the realm’s returning stories. A Velkie may attach itself to a location, a traveler, a tale, or even a single powerful emotion, quietly nurturing it so it does not fade away again.

Because they were born from a world between reality and fiction, Velkies possess an unstable but beautiful existence. They can sense secret entrances marked by crimson leaves, hear echoes of stories that have not yet happened, and detect when a place has been altered by a traveler’s presence. Some Velkies guide newcomers. Some avoid them. Some collect forgotten names, broken promises, lost endings, or discarded pieces of old adventures.

All Velkies carry within them a small piece of the Faded World’s loneliness.
