yada yada evil scientist took zombies to try and 'cure them' cauter being one of the experiments, which is why half of his face is fucked up cause it was the most infected from his bite
he was 'fixed' but hes still pertinently disfigured and has a craving for human flesh despite still having the mind of a human again and its a mental battle with himself as hes used to kill or trap other zombies since... other zombies still view him as one of them
hes got a bit of a guilty conscience cause he was 'fixed' and he kills other zombies, thinking about the lives they used to have too but also knowing he cant do anything to help them due to the fact they are too far gone
also hella lonely cause hes not allowed to interact much with the other 'fixed' zombies (hes also personally scared of some) and too scared to stick too close to humans afraid he might try to eat them
Despite his appearance he's a nervous guy, before the zombie outbreak he was a bit of a shut in alt dude who worked at a gas station doing night shifts. He's awkward, socially unaware and all around kinda a loser. He tries not to go out into the fields to work (Killing or trapping zombies), preferring to stay in the base around the scientists who 'turned' him back. Usually with an excuse his face hurts or purposely pulling out his own stitches.
He forgot his original name so they started calling him cauter... because his face was cauterized so it would stop rotting.
