this feisty tar weasel will probably bite your face off! Macaroon is a clumsy, sloppy, dim creature whose interests consist of sleeping and eating. they are also angry 90% of the time because they are a bastard baby, hence why they have a tar state, meaning triple the carnage.

some notes about drawing them:

  • you don't have to draw them exactly as long as they are, but for a general reference, their tail is two times the length of their body
  • you don't have to draw the eyes on their tail in their tar state exact
  • the colors towards the top right match the top reference, being their normal state, while the colors on the bottom left are for their tar state on the bottom

thank you!!! <3

(2023 update) pronouns they/them, it/its, is ok with he/him. "When in tar state Macaroon is virtually impossible to contact, escape from, or kill. It is a creature hell-bent on slaughter and consumption. However, this state actually makes Macaroon extremely vulnerable to light; it feels blinding and painful to them, causing the tar to momentarily recede as its eyes will water and squint shut, giving you enough time while it is stunned to escape or contain it. It is very difficult for Macaroon to avoid light with the several eyes on its tail so it is essential that you bring some form of light with you before you seek this creature out. However, it's important to note that light will not assist you against Macaroon while they are in their normal mode. In fact, they actually seem to understand that light can be dangerous to them, so if you expose that you have a light-creating device, Macaroon will begin to target it, attempting to eat or destroy it (though Macaroon is still pretty dumb, so it's not difficult to distract them). This is why some claim Macaroon is one of the most expensive "pets" you can keep, because you need to constantly provide it with food, otherwise it will go after your lights.

I will now write in a less professional, more personal tone because my time with Macaroon is running out before he gets transferred and I need to record as much information as I can and I'll reorganize it for papers later. I think I actually understand now what the point of the rings are for. I've seen them glow when Macaroon is enraged, and it shuts him down because they produce light. It's quite brilliant actually, to place those mechanisms right next to their eyes, but I don't know how they got there or how to turn them on. I've tested sounds at different frequencies, I've tested shining different lights on it, I've tried to find some sort of power source on them, but they don't respond. I think they were put there to control this creature. When I was running my hands under the rings, I felt spikes that pierced right into Macaroon's skin. I don't think they're removable. Macaroon actually responded extremely negatively to being touched near the rings as if it was causing them pain. But I wish I could figure out how to turn them on--that would be game changing. I'm just here to record behavior though, once I turn these notes over I'm sure someone smarter will find out how.

The results for the blood samples I collected in the last recording finally came in. My theory was correct; he has tar running through his blood pretty intensely. I don't understand how this creature is still alive, I mean, it's obvious it is alien, but it appears to me like the tar is a foreign agent injected into his bloodstream. And now it just lives with it. How long ago did someone experiment with them, how long have they been like this? I wonder if the tar is hurting it. How long does it have left to live before its internal organs shut down? Or maybe it works nothing like our bodies. Maybe the tar is only enhancing it's existence. There's no real way to find out outside of cutting it open and digging around inside but I don't have permission to do so. It's just frustrating, not knowing which behaviors are natural and which were created because of the tar.

...I decided to take samples while it was in tar. What's interesting about this fluid is there is actually very little blood. It's mainly tar. It's as if the tar is completely consuming the creature. Does it dominate will and control their actions? I don't know if I will include this in the paper. I feel like I am personifying this creature. But there is such a division between its behavior when it is normal versus angry. One is sleepy and hungry and timid and I would even call it playful. The other is just murderous and evil. One is a pet and the other is an animal. But still, it doesn't seem to regret anything it does. Maybe I'm wrong, and it uses the tar once its prey's defenses are down, because it enjoys the kill. I cannot tell if it is aware of its actions in tar. It's a very unintelligent creature. It is just a creature nonetheless.
