He has many different old, beaten, repaired toys in his home. All of them are possessed by sad and lost souls that he channels into them to give them bodies and friends, so that they can be happy again. The first two of these toys and the most loyal to him are a teddy bear he calls "Bear", possessed by his deceased 16 year-old boyfriend, and a toy soldier named "Tesla", possessed by a 9 year-old boy.

Mykal chats with these spirits often and thinks of them as friends.

Sometimes, especially near Christmas, he gives away new toys for free to children.
