▪︎ Based on my first fo4 playthrough :^3

▪︎ He's the brother of another character I havent drawn yet, and is like one half of the possible storylines of fallout 4. He is the younger brother of Charles (the aforementioned not drawn yet character) and he is much more approachable and... well, likeable. He was almost 23 at the time of the bombs falling and was living on his brother's couch. Charles' time in the military gave Francis a spot in Vault 111 by proxy, and he was left alive since "uncle of main subject of interest" was closely related enough that he was left alive as a second backup.

▪︎ I need to write a long backstory but heres the important bits to his character -

▪︎ No military training whatsoever. Before the bombs fell he was an animal groomer. This experience has not really helped in adapting to a post-war world.

▪︎ Might have a little bit of the Sight going on but its very vague and he's never mentioned it to anyone ever. (Its like getting visions of the future or prophecies or whatever. He had the same dream of the bombs falling for a full week before it happened, fun fact!)

▪︎ Got attacked by ferals not a full 48 hours after leaving the vault, which is where he got the scar on his face.

▪︎ General of the Minutemen, not because he was after the job but because he helped out (and Charles was busy doing Something Else). Secretly a Railroad member as well. Hater of the Brotherhood of Steel and the Institute as well.

▪︎ Big robot guy! He has a lot of robot pals and he likes them better than he likes (most) people. He also keeps hacking robots he fights and turns them into allies. There are so many.

▪︎ Jesse's friend!! Francis sees the good in everyone, some of that good ol pre-war optimism, and he is a big reason Jesse finally stops being a raider. Francis also considers Jesse an honorary minuteman now and there is nothing Jesse can say to convince him otherwise, try as he might. He, Jesse, is only a footnote in this description but he and Francis are VERY close and their stories are very intertwined post-meeting.

▪︎ Francis actually loves the post-war world. There are moments, many of them, that make him face how much it Sucks, but he likes knowing that the world didnt end when the bombs fell and he likes knowing that people are still people 200 years after the apocalypse.

▪︎ It helps that he can explore wherever he wants now. Francis is a wanderer at heart and he is not a Massachusetts native (he and Charles are from North Carolina!) so post-war it has been fun, to him, to explore places he would never have been allowed to enter pre-war.

▪︎ Speaking of pre-war, while Francis will happily go on about what something was for if someone asks, he doesn't like to think about his life before the war. Not because there was anything wrong with it, but because he has not let himself process that that world is gone for good (and that his friends and 99% of his family is dead. hes an orphan now, yippee!).

▪︎ 5'6" tall, but he tends to stand like.. not on his toes but kinda on his toes so he is like a half inch taller. He doesnt do this on purpose its just his resting stance for some reason.

▪︎ Technically he should be wearing armor (I think in my first playthrough I ditched the vault suit entirely?) but I'm not drawing that and I'm not making anyone else draw it either. Also the vault suit has the number 111 on the back.

▪︎ His vault suit is dirty always, both from actual dirt and working on robots.

▪︎ The eye with the scar over it is slightly more lidded than the other.

▪︎ His entire appearance, except the scar and nails, is based on what I actually remember my first character looking like. I didn't have any pictures to reference, but I'm pretty sure this is accurate.
