"Everything'll be all right."

An unintentionally orphaned, country bumpkin kid gone military on his childhood aspirations to be a pegasus knight; a small-scale dreamer who is more than content with found-family and followed orders. He's a friendly face with a welcoming air, however absent-minded he may be, and his optimism is a force to be reckoned with – to frankly delusional degrees!

Personality

Good-natured || Friendly || Nurturing || Absentminded || Indecisive || Possessive || Irresponsible ||

One more for following the tide and easily relenting to others, Eoghan often enjoys the mindless duties that others tend to shirk. A daydreamer, a friendly face, an unimposing familial air – other than his lanky height and almost deliberate-seeming clumsiness he would easily and contentedly blend into the backdrop, accepting life as it comes.

Thankfully the military has instilled some degree of urgency to his passive ways, and a pressing need to focus in dire situations has lent him agency in other respects alien to him, but for the most part he remains unchanged over the recent years. Nevertheless there is always more than he lets on working in that woolly mind. Slow-burning selfish fears, simmering frustrations and ugly, matter-of-fact prejudices... Dawdling as he is, the very real consequences in this line of service have entrenched themselves deeply in his bearings.

Those uncertainties can be eroded with patience at least, a trait that this half-elf embodies completely. But adept at convincing himself otherwise, Eoghan as always will brush aside repercussions and negativities for others to contend; he is willing to leave issues to inevitable fate and for his own peace of mind will continue that way.

Born to a mixed family with too many mouths to feed, Eoghan was hardly one to vie for attention from deadbeat parents. Perhaps that was why when he ended up lost from the family caravan on its way passing through the Cantish countryside to Miras, he didn't feel particularly bothered about his situation.

Only after weeks had passed waiting in the nearby village of Æthelwine did he finally realize his family wasn't coming back for him. Too much of a bother, too much of an expense... he didn't know where they'd chosen to settle down either. But that was honestly fine. These things just happened sometimes, right?

It wasn't long before he made himself comfortable in the small town's church orphanage, learning the ropes of general skills to help around the farms and stables as all the children were. There he met and self-proclaimedly adopted his new sister, as well as befriended a young Kairi, the daughter of the Baron who oversaw the land that the townsfolk worked. Those days were full of mischief– especially with how one lady preferred mock sword fights over academics, and the other constantly fretted but stayed at their sides regardless. But as the years passed and they each grew more capable to leave the safe haven of the village, Eoghan's mind turned outwards from the ever-exciting tasks of shepherding and tilling to think–for once–on his own future.

He found the answer soon enough. In those childhood friends and daydreams there was something more than the cushy bubble of a pastoral church life; Looking downwards to picture books of Pegasi Knights and princely uniforms, and skywards to the open air of the country... what else was there to do except follow along with those whimsies?
Taking up the surname Elwynne, he traveled to the near splendor of Miras to enlist in the military there with his sister and subsequently an entirely different life. Slowly and steadily he practiced the sword and at the same time developed the ever faint vestiges of magic still in his blood.
A decent worker but hardly a quick or keen learner, it took Eoghan a good three years as a milite before admittance to the Flight Regiment at 20.

It was smoother sailing from that point; prior experience with handling animals lent him an ease in the air that was far more capable than his bumbling on foot. Eager to explore, he jumped at the chances of assignments to different cities but still happily followed the lead of others. By the end of it all, Cantor was still his home and heart though the city of Nisalvini with its iridescent flora was like any plant enthusiast's dream home.

Perhaps what he found most exciting about serving in the army was the greater freedom in travel–something he hadn't considered often after his childhood wandering stint. At least now, with a mount and family and closer friends, there was no way he could lose sight of them this time.

Current:

The open-scale warfare of the past years had altered much of his passive perceptions of politics and racism. Eoghan still hardly cares or minds anything past his own received orders, but at the same time those excursions are what have him contemplating more and more the worth of his personal matters; on the grand scale they mean nothing, but he has only ever been a small scale and easily impressionable sort. While hardly batting an eye when it came to bouts against the Empire, the issue closer at home between the Kingdom and Delverne had him mulling over his own idealistic sympathies and the heavy-handed nature of conflicts.

Now after the tumultuous year of 8293 – the ongoing conflicts with Delverne, the demise of Tharoneos, the abrupt civil split of the Kingdom, lost contacts and the new alliance between East Miras and the Empire – Eoghan has had little time to reflect on the fallouts, adjusting to his current life in Amedra shared with military superiors and the little oracles he followed. Or rather, he has thought plenty and often and over and over, laden with his own prejudices and peers' inputs. But evasive of arduous thought he glosses what he can to get by; It is a headache of an affair to ponder events beyond oneself and what's done is done.

With the new year's rapid churning of waters and lands, he can only balk further at disastrous fairytales, yet maintain a keen faith in not only the gods but in the capability of others. Clearly, with how life works in this world, no matter the scale it will be true with belief, and that's what he is doing!

currently he is heavily Not in denial yay!! please talk to him about cantor or lorelei whenever he's not about to become free fall pudding

Additional Info

  • The citadel mark is on his left ear tip :(
  • Makes use of sword, whip and magic, rather than a physical shield.
  • Incredibly bad with money, whether it be impulse purchases, gullibility, ignorance, or just plain forgetting where he put his wallet... he doesn't carry much on himself for that reason and relied on his sister to handle things for him.
  • His ability to nap in any place and at any time is probably a talent in itself.
  • Has a tendency to hoard little things in collections. Cool-looking rocks for one!
  • On that note, one of the rocks he's kept since childhood--adorned with a scribbled face--is supposedly enchanted. With what, who knows... Or maybe it's just a plain old rock. It's probably the latter.
  • Contrary to appearance, he enjoys morbid humour more than he really ought to. He also enjoys scribbling in colouring books... more than he ought. Actually most of his habits he just... shouldn't.
  • Latest Very Realistic goal in life is to quit the military after the war, procure the best rock collection in the world, adopt white oracle Clover and a million other kids, have judad be their godfather, marry Lorelei, live in both Cantor and Nisalvini, live in a giant house with everyone he likes with a million pets and farms and
  • Surname is taken after the name of their hometown ( Elwyn - Æðelwine)
  • Eoghan is pronounced the same as Owen for those curious !
