Backstory: Blade was born and raised on the planet Vesane, and was always held to very high standards to do beyond the best and his family wanted him to be very famous. He started working on clothing, but never really got far on the planet, with lots of competition around him. He became very snooty, competitive, and stuck up, especially when his family dropped most communication when he wasn't making the money or fame they wanted from him. He wanted to prove them wrong that he WASN'T a failure and could make their dreams come true on fame and fortune.
Eventually, a space ship from Cabibera crash landed, destroying his shop and angering the Vesanite. He confronted the owner, a strange dog named Fwuffy, who was more than a little relaxed about the whole situation. This frustrated him, and he ended up following her back to Cabibera (since her ship wasn't destroyed) to make sure he got paid back like she promised. They built a small place for him to temporarily have a shop on the planet. Well more like he watched with disgust as Fwuffy got dirty and built a place from scratch over a few weeks, but he made VERY sure to tell her everything wrong with it along the way. Much to his chagrin, the dog ended up pulling him along on her cave adventures, mostly due to him not wanting the possibility of her running off on him without paying the damages of his shop back home. The two bonded over their gem adventures and other wacky shenanigans the dog put him through, and he guessed he could consider her a friend.
After a while, he found ways to incorporate or get inspiration from the gems they collected, as well as other pretty materials Fwuffy found. He ended up making more money than he did on Vesane, even though he still wasn't very well known, so he decided to stay since he had nothing really left for him back home. Fwuffy taught him to let loose and not worry or be so stuck up, and Blade found himself becoming less bitter and happier over time.
When Fwuffy told him about her birth family and wish to contact them, he was moved. So much so that when her spaceship's radio and tv broke while trying to upgrade them, he spent many hours fixing it for her, just so she could see her family. Considering his hatred for 'dirty work', this really proved he cared about the dog.
He tries to not worry so much about getting dirty on adventures anymore, but he can't help it sometimes.
