She is one out of two of Pebblepaws spirit mentors with the other one being Vervainesplinter.
Flowerfern was incredibly thoughtful and young, making her death a tragic one. She died from a dog attack, and remains bitter from her early passing. Her mentor (Vervainesplinter) had just retired which made her the main medicine cat of the clan, and she was skilled at her role as well. Only two moons later did she die, and was stuck in limbo until Pebblepaw chose to be a medicine cat. Usually she hangs around in the background while Vervainesplinter teaches him, and while she doesn't mean to, she frightens Pebblepaw when she appears out of no where.
She represents the worse side of their duties, and helps mainly with the worst of illnesses and wounds. Her fur is a mess from the attack and her wounds are manifested in a mystical fog and will only be healed when Pebblepaw learns the way of his part of the clan and she is allowed to return to Starclan. One of her eyes is "given" to him so he can see the world from an experienced medicine cat.
