Canary is mostly a cheerful fella, likes to help and is overal a nice guy. They are a botanist that loves their job, they mostly do laboratory research but also does field work. They grew in the same town as Green (from the series) and used to visit their earthworm farm to take fertilizer for their plants. Once Green died there was this rumor that they have been possessed and killed by an alien, Canary thought this was absurd though, probably perished by a work accident.
They took a job in the Skeld, they study the relation between Ore plus and plants, having discovered a symbiotic relation, and with the idea of boosting the energetic power gained from the Ore plus.
On board they find out that Coral, the janitor, is a Viper, as they had been uncareful of using an acid spit to get out a hard to clean dirt on the floor in their presence. Coral then tried to convince Canary that they aren't dangerous, but at the same time intimidates them with using their acid against them if they tries something stupid.
Canary gets really scared and when they can, they tell the other crew members that Coral is an alien, however no one believes them, and thus Canary accepts no one can help them and will have to be very careful with this alien if they don't want to end up with the same fate as Green.
As time goes on, and because the plant section always had to be cleaned and at the same time Coral used to check on Canary, they start to believe Coral isn't really harmful, and start to grow up a kind of friendship.
Someone is murdered on the ship, and even though at first Canary is freaked out thinking Coral killed them, Coral quickly rebuts that theory showing Canary that the only weapon they have is their own acid and that the body didn't have any spit on it, so Canary at least still trust Coral enough, and then would even see Coral as a protection.
However later a body is found with acid on it, incriminating Coral. Canary was afraid, felt hurt and was nervous, so on an emergency meeting Canary points out Coral and for they all to believe them, in a swift movement Canary takes off Coral's scarf, showing them all their reptilian mouth. Coral felt betrayed, they had told them that it wasn't them (and it was true) but didn't had someone else to point out (or maybe they didn't want to...?), but the evidence wasn't on their side. In an attempt to save themself, Coral uses an acid breath to make the others step back, then tried to attack Grey but before they reach them, they are nocked out with a frying pan.
As that, then Coral is ejected in the cold space.
