Lamia, the blue archer, was inspired by my birthchart

Lamia was inspired by the blue flames you find on stovetops or bunsen burners. Something more controlled than the lick of an orange flame because Jupiter is a humbled voice. But I needed something more than a quiet flame, because the rising is known to be with the voice you first speak with and honestly there’s always a little bite. I found “Lamia” in greek mythology, known as a serpent lady. From there, I gave my archer shark like features, the image of sharks against the ocean floor reminding me much of snakes slithering in open fields.

She has light blue hair, that ends in the middle of her neck, mostly covering the gills that hide there. She has a dorsal fin that lies right in between her shoulder blades. Her skin is a combination of shark skin and “human skin”. The shark skin is a lot thicker, a grey shade, with a tint of blue, that covers the entire tail and her breast. clothes irritate her skin too much. As an archer, she carries a quiver that holds coral arrows. Her bow is her companion, a small great white that transforms into a strong black driftwood recurved bow. Although no one has seen it happen, rumors say that it can transform into more than just a bow.

Naturally, Lamia is calm, she is humble and she is kind. Her laughter sounds like wind chimes on a summer day and she is warm like sunbeams. Much like the ocean, Lamia can change with the tides. When angry, she’s ugly. The gills on her neck swell and her eyes turn black with rage. Lamia is kind, and she hates this side of her that she often hates herself for allowing her beast to surface. She often forgets the things she does when her beast is surfaced, and because of that Lamia rarely sleeps. She worries that one day she may wake up and find herself surrounded by death.

Lamia is the blue archer; and blue is more than just a color.

Lamia grew up alone in a grotto for most of her life, cursed by a magic that caused blue flames to dance across her skin. The more afraid she is of it, the less she can control it. The less she can control it, the more afraid people become of her.

In some mythology, Lamia is a boey to scare young children. Due to Zeus' trysts with her, Hera destryed her children and afflicted her with a sleeplessness curse so she would always be in morning. Because of this, Lamia became disfigured with torment and who hunted and killed children.

In other stories, Lamia is the daughter of Poseidon, and her name means "large, dangerous lone shark". Personally, I've taken bits and parts of Lamia greek mythology and wove it into the story I started for Lamia before searching for a name.
