Profile

In the nomadic warrior life of the elfin Wild Hunts there is no room for the weak. From an early age, children are trained to steal cattle, hunt wild beasts and seize slaves for the good of their Hunt, and most of all, must learn to master communion with the Afar so that they may leverage their natural magical talents. So too goes for the old and infirm. Those who fail to keep up with the pack are left behind; abandoned in their bed rolls in the cold expanse of the steppe, or the depths of a forest.

Eofiel, or as she was once known on the western frontier of the Lotus Court, the Red Rider of Kao-Tep, was a shining example to her kin in the great hunt of Prince Tsal Xarinth. She had ridden with the Prince himself, and proved her worth to the Hunt with her many victories against the human expeditions into elfin territory, even pushing out to seize several border villages on the strategic Ren-Tep plateau. Renowned for her beauty as well as her strength, rumours flew that she had been in an affair with the sovereign himself, or with one of his wives, though few held much substance. Regardless, her time in the sun would come to an abrupt stop in the year 458 OE, when she and the Prince were ambushed at camp by Lotus Army troops. The human attackers came armed with pike, shot and shrapnel, and a desperate counter-charge led by Eofiel herself saw her quickly blasted from her saddle. Xarinth was less fortunate, and was unceremoniously killed by the weak humans he had previously tormented.

Scarred and traumatised, Eofiel was abandoned by the fleeing elves, and captured in a state of shock by the human troops. But her captivity did not last long, as when she realised the likely fate of execution that would await her in the Lotus lands were she to reach civilization, she was able to muster the strength to leap from the side of her prisoner train and disappear into the night.

Disoriented, still heavily injured, and grief stricken by her sudden abandonment, she spent weeks wandering in the wilderness, evading Lotus patrols and foraging to ward off starvation. She would become a hermit for some time, spending almost three years alone in the Shan forest, meditating and honing her magical talents. But her desire for companionship - and more importantly, revenge - demanded to be sated, and the young elf would eventually set out again, unsure who she hated - those who had killed her old self, or those who had left her to be killed.

Eofiel is ill-tempered and emotionally distant; years of solitude and subsequent further years of lone travel have left her socially awkward, and she is highly defensive due to her elfin nature and scars, wearing robes to hide them even after having mostly left the threat of direct persecution behind in Lotus lands. Externally, she claims she wants blood, and plans to eventually return to her birthplace - either to wipe out the Wild Hunt of Tsal for good, or replace it's terror against the humans with her own. Her actual motivation towards this goal is lukewarm however - she craves companionship far more, and has turned to travel in unconscious search of it.
