Oz grew up the quieter of his pair with his twin sister, Elphie. Always her complacent shadow he spent his childhood watching her fling herself into action, while he stayed behind to learn what would be needed to clean up her messes. He dedicated himself to his studies growing up, always tucked away in books and papers. With a hit to his strength, both physical and social, Oz relies on his magic to get him through most difficult encounters.

He focuses mostly on defensive magic, always worried about keeping himself and loved ones protected. For no reason he can decern, Oz has spent the majority of his life with an irrational sense of doom looming over him. His mother puts it down to their father's disappearance, his friends put it down to his sister's endless antics, and Elphie puts it down to him just having a stick up his ass. Regardless of her taunting, Oz doesn't believe he could make it through a day without Elphie. She is his most important person, and nothing she or anyone else does will change that.

Oz's magic is channelled through a pendant gifted to him by his grandmother, the lone living sorcerer in Oz's known bloodline. Powerful and kind, she is one of the few people who can put Oz at ease. His gifted pendant thus is more than just his magic's source, it's his reminder that someone believes things will be okay.
