Zadiel Vauquelin

Zadiel is a very classic looking high moon elf. He is of slender build with elegant features. His face is long and oval-shaped, with high cheekbones and smooth features. He has gentle, heavy lidded blue eyes with golden flakes. His mouth has a natural curve which is usually made more pronounced by an often-present smile. He has somewhat broad shoulders and good posture which give him a more regal appearance. The rest of him is quite slim-- Zade does not have much in the way of musculature, except for some definition in his legs from travel. He is long-legged and unusually tall for an elf, standing at 6'3" without the extra inch a heeled boot usually gives him.

As for clothing, Zade has a number of different styles and outfits depending on when you catch him. He prefers fine fabrics, usually well-woven linens, silks, and chiffons made by the finest elven tailors. Almost everything he wears comes in hues of blue, with accents of silver and black. His adventuring outfits tend to be much more muted and lately he will mostly be caught in dark hoods with high scarves, his palette never straying much from blacks and greys. No matter what the occaision, however, Zade can't resist wearing piles of silver jewelry. He's always decked out in delicate silver chains, moonstone, and pearls. Whatever the outfit, Zade likes to emphasize or reveal his thighs in some fashion. Sometimes this comes in the form of tight pants and thigh-high boots, other times it's beatiful robes with slits up to his hips, often it's both.

Zadiel is a very different person depending on how well someone knows him. He gives off the initial impression of being gentle, kind, and mild-mannered. Often Zade goes out of his way to do things for others and particularly enjoys cooking meals for people whenever he can. He tends to show an interest in whatever a person's passions are and will spend long moments speaking with them about the things they like. This kindness is extended to service workers in particular, as he often befriends local bakers and shopkeepers wherever he goes. Zade is at his best when he can relax and forget his ambitions. He is capable of being attentive and genuinely caring, doing whatever he can to care for others and their needs.

Underneath is a curious, knowledge-hungry gremlin prone to holding grudges. He loves sticking his nose into whatever interests him and will play dumb about social decorum when it suits him. Zade will lie even when not necessary, so long as he can keep his story straight and it will put him in a better light. He feels entitled to respect and those who think to cross him should expect vengeance, whether that be tomorrow or ten years in the future. He's also prone to hubris, believing his magic or intelligence will keep him safe from even the worst of outcomes. There are other times when he can become so caught up in his own fear of disappointing other people that he falls into fits of anxiety, sometimes even panic attacks. Obviously this fear of disappointment can be at odds with some of his other more uncouth traits, which can lead to him cycling through moments of anxiety and intrusiveness or hubris. In spite of these flaws, when he puts his clever mind to a proper cause he can enact quite a bit of good.

Zade was born in Syngorn to a mother who passed early on in his youth. He was adopted shortly after by his aunt and uncle - a pair of Syngornian nobles. While under their care he spent time honing his magic. Three years ago he fled Syngorn without telling anyone, making his way as far north as he could.

He's spent his first year travelling the continent, slowly making his way north. He went from city to town, meandering his way through and picking up odd jobs and magical work before making it to Whitestone, which was initially to be his final destination. For about a month he spent his time there exploring the city and the nearby white stone, taking some for his own practices where he could. But one day a ship arrived and he had a fortuitous encounter with a well-known professor of from the continent of Wildemount. This professor told him of a brand new magic they were studying and beginning to teach and the Soltryce Academy- Dunamancy. This immediately piqued Zade's interest and upon seeing this the professor offered to take him to Wildemount, provide him a place to stay, and enroll him in classes. Zade took him up on the offer and traveled off by ship to the Dwendalian Empire, to the capital of Rexxentrum and the Soltryce Academy.
