And there are those moments before the storm. That duration where wind can be felt on the bare skin of cheek and foreheads. And the shift that it brings, when one can taste the charge on their tongue. Zakka can feel it right to her core. Thunder has been rumbling over Josie’s cornfield for the better part of the morning, always distant, always waiting. Never seeming to grow closer.

The crowd is alive under the pulsing blue lights. They strobe and flash in rhythm as the guitar wails. Zakka’s voice resounds around the venue like a silk blanket wrapped around tinkling wind chimes. It is accented by Bellazhana’s soft soprano opera and Hypes alto opera. The audience repeats the vocals back to them, mostly out of tune, but with such passion and excitement that it doesn’t matter.
