Jasper has a lot going on for a junior in high school. On top of the normal stuff-- piling school work, depression, and her huge crush on her best friend, Echo-- she is working on a case. Detective cases used to be a thing of the past, a middle school method of entertainment. And while Jasper wants to be involved in the big leagues one day as a forensic investigator, she’s not ready for a literal murder being pinned on one of her best friends. She knows they didn’t do it, but with hardly any evidence to go off of, and plenty against, there’s not much she can do to prove their innocence but investigate every suspect herself. Given that she’s not really the social type, she has to call her old colleague for backup, none other than the boy she’s trying to get over.
