Beast was born on the coast of Bahrum under a different name. He was the last child of a family of 6, his parents, his three older brothers and himself. None of them had any affinity to magic and for some reason, the youngest child always felt as if he never belonged with his siblings.
At a very young age, he started developing his powers. As he was playing with the wild animals in his garden, he realized he had an easier time with them than anyone in his village and that he could grow small flowers out of thin air. He quickly ran to his mother, holding a bouquet of daisies in his small hands. He tried to explain but only received a few pats on the head and a laughing "How cute ! You kids have so much imagination, you must enjoy it while you still can !" And so, the young druid never brought it up again.
He was 10 when he disappeared from home. It was at first a simple tantrum, the kid weeping after he was told that "No, he wasn't a boy." But what was a simple way for a kid to express his feelings got him in trouble. He got lost on the beach, and there, was caught by bandits having set camp a few days prior. There was nothing he could do, and that way, he was sold to the first slaveholder a month later.
Beast was then sent to Lehiarev, where he was taught how to fight, no matter his young age. Everyday, he had new opponents coming from all over Peos, other kids, sometimes even younger than him. It was by accident when he realized he could transform into the animals he was told to be scared of. After that, a lot of potential buyers were interested in him. 2 years later, he was back to Bahrum but his training still wasn't complete.
His new "master" was the owner of an arena. There were fights every other day, and with them, bets on who would get out of alive. Sitting in his cage, he quickly got used to the pain of never being able to quite completely stand upright, and the foul odor of pus and blood mixing together. He was 16 when he first put foot in the sand as a gladiator. And at the same time, he was changing his body on and off to look more masculine, eventually becoming entirely physically male, though he could never hold that appearance during the night until a few months later.
A year passed by quicker than he would have thought, and the routine settled in. Newcomers, more scared than the first, with the eventual bloodlust warrior. There were the whips, the chains and the never-ending pain and tension in his tired muscles. But oh did the public love seeing Beast as a panther, ripping the other fighters apart as his claws and fangs tore flesh apart.
Then a little being came into his life, slipping between the iron rods of his cage so easily. For a moment, the druid was fascinated by the way the cat could go in and out of there, reminding him that the outside world still existed, somewhere. Yet she stayed and never left his side.
The druid was reaching 21 years old when a band of mercenaries came over. At first, there was panic, but then they opened all of the cages and freed all the slaves. As a thanks -and maybe partly because he was so scared of what the world was, outside of his cage-, he stayed with them for two years, until he got accustomed to life as a free man for the first time.
Thankfully, even if wandering around doesn't pay much, Beast seems to find a way to take care of all of his needs in nature. Now, he simply wanders around in Bahrum, always accompanied by Cat.
