When the sun coats the land in vibrant light, Jiro's fur is bright from the shadows of the night before. This is not just a physical change, either. His powers change with the light as well.
Even if he isn't able to see the change of day to night or night to day, he is able to keep up with time because his fur doesn't respond to perceived time or what it's like immediately around him. It responds to the land and if it's covered in sunlight or night's darkness.
