Profile

Tzebua is a female Gnoll I play in D&D
Druid • Outlander • Chaotic Neutral

She has a wolf named Torvin and an ox named Burgess.

History
Tzebua grew up largely apart from her kind and their brutal ways. Her earliest memories involve hearing the traditional Gnoll stories of their race being created by demonic powers transforming wild hyenas, which sparked in her an incredible fascination with hyenas and animals of all kinds. She was an orphan who never knew her parents (though this never bothered her) and was a loner by default who enjoyed solitude and deep thoughts. She felt no close ties to her kin and spent her earlier years wandering as a nomad and learning all she could about the land and animals. An old forest druid, who upon learning she was no threat, took her in and tutored her.
Through her observations of Hyenas and Gnolls, Tzebua formulated rudimentary ideas of evolution and "nature vs nurture". With herself as proof of a curious, science-minded, non-bloodlusting Gnoll, she yearned to learn more about the potential of all other species. After the death of her druid tutor, she set out on her own and eventually made a friendly pact with a small human village of farmers and traders, working as a hunter and protector in hopes of gaining more favor with humans.
She meets the party she eventually adventures with one day as they march into the village after hearing of a troublesome Gnoll that plagues the people there - only to find an uncharacteristically friendly Gnoll and very confused villagers who have no idea why some adventurers insist on "saving" them.

Appearance
Tzebua is large and powerful as a default for her species, but slightly smaller in frame than the average female gnoll. Her extremities are patterned with grayscale, striped hyena markings, which morph into a warmer, spotted palette closer to her midsection. Her mane is long and shaggy and often covers her eyes. She has two large tusks on either side of her mouth, multiple piercings plugged with bone and carved wood, and her tail is tightly bandaged to all but the tip. Her other clothing consists of undyed, patchy leather and fur scraps. She carries all kinds of ornamental trinkets, bits of animals, tools, and shinies. Her hood has large antlers sewn into each side, which act as anchor points to tie and carry all of her belongings. In battle she prefers her claws and teeth, but also carries a spear wrapped with ragged spikes and thorns.

Flaws
Mostly growing up in the wilderness, Tzebua has a serious crutch when it comes to human societal norms. She is brash, awkward, often unintentionally threatening, and has no concept of personal space. She prefers to sleep outside, and often needs a close eye kept on her in populated villages or else she might do something completely inappropriate, like take a shit in the corner of the local Inn. She is also very unconcerned with money or price bartering, which makes swindling her easy.
