Appearance

Red, like so many lust demons, could be considered conventionally attractive by most. He's tall (5'11"), has clear skin, and his hair is soft and fair. His hair is a dark brown that goes even darker near the roots, and he wears it short, generally shaving the back of his head. He has a small braid just in front of his left ear, which he wears mostly to distract from the literal chunks taken out of it. He had three diagonal scars over the left side of his mouth, although they've become faint with age.

Red is muscular but not very broad shouldered. His outfits tend to heavily feature natural colors like greys and browns, with the occasional splash of the obvious red when he feels it's appropriate. The most noticeable thing about his wardrobe is how much of it there is. He's always covered, wearing boots, gloves, and long sleeves and pants regardless of the weather. You'll see his face and maybe part of his neck, and depending on the gloves sometimes a portion of the back of his palms, which he keeps exposed for testing purposes. When it isn't too obvious, he'll often wear hooded sweatshirts to hide even the back of his neck.

Personality

Red is a man buried in self hatred, leaving room for very little else. While he acts casual and friendly to strangers, he doesn't generally allow himself to gather friends, considering himself unworthy of them. To a similar extent, he's very open about his job, although he tends to leave things in past tense to avoid incriminating himself too much. He feels that people deserveto know the kind of monster they're dealing with, although he never lets them see the full extent of it.

Outside of his own endless self hatred, Red is extremely methodical. He does his best to be prepared to the point of lunacy, and his experience and extensive knowledge of the supernatural keeps him well prepared. He's almost emotionless as he goes to work, having numbed himself to the suffering of others, and can take a while to fully recover when his work is done. He has very little life outside of his work, and frequently finds himself struggling for things to do when not busy. A lot of his time is spent reading, primarily nonfiction about supernatural creatures.

Species Abilities

Red is primarily a demon of lust, his demonic heritage having come through quite strongly even though he's only a halfbreed. He is immortal, never quite aging past the age of twenty five, and when empowered is gifted with a wide array of physical abilities.

When empowered, he heals at ten times the human rate, can easily lift a car, is fast as an Olympic sprinter even for long distance, and has enhanced senses and endurance. He isn't superman, but he's extremely dangerous. After feeding--an act which requires him to fornicate with a human or humanoid--he's fully powered for the next forty eight hours. From then on, his power continues to wane until two weeks after the initial feeding, at which point he is no more capable than the average fit human being.

The problem is that Red doesn't feed. He hasn't done anything since the late '60s, leaving him effectively human in almost every way. The only physical advantage he maintains is that he won't die of old age or age any further, but otherwise he gains none of the benefits.

On the other hand, he maintains the same weaknesses whether he's empowered or not. Blessed silver (whether blessed by a priest or used in a church) causes him to burn on skin contact, physically repelling him. The same can be said of holy water or symbols of the christian faith. However, he is not bothered by the presence of such items, nor is he prevented from entering holy places or churches. He uses these selective weaknesses to his advantage, and since his own weaknesses require skin contact, he's free to wield holy silver, crosses and other such weapons against his own kind, as long as he doesn't let them touch his skin.

His other major ability could be considered a power by many, but is considered by Red to be a curse. Like many lust demons, he has an attraction aura, causing those who see him to feel attracted to him. However, there are two important factors that come into play. First, the amount of skin he's showing hugely effects the power of the aura. In a speedo the effect is at its worst, while the effects are average with short sleeves and no gloves. In his normal clothes, almost fully covered, the effects are mild at best.

Secondly, Red's powers are that of corrupted lust, and that extends to the targets of his aura. The less likely someone should feel attracted to Red, the more likely they are to be. That means straight men, gay women, and asexuals are all going to feel the most powerful attractions, while his aura is comparatively mild compared to most lust demons.

Biography

Red's life is not a terribly tragic one the way his demeanor might suggest. He was born the son of a lust demon--Eliana Ria--and man he doesn't know the identify of. He was abandoned at an orphanage shortly after the end of world war two, although abandoned was probably not the right word. His mother visited infrequently, coming and going as she pleased, and while she was a presence in his life, even as a child Red found it little more than a point of frustration. It wasn't like he was one of the others, who had lost their parents in the war. Instead, he had his mother who simply didn't care about him.

It was a hard lesson to learn.

When Red was fourteen, he ran away from the orphanage, shedding his birth name and vanishing into the wider world. He wouldn't see his mother again for several decades, but even so it was impossible for him not to recognize what he was. It took a fair amount of research--buying time in old libraries to peek at books--but finally he accepted what he was.

It wasn't, realistically speaking, that hard to figure out. His skin was burned by holy objects, and he found people throwing themselves at him more than they should have, even at a young age. He found if he bundled himself up he did better at not attracting the attention of those around him, but it wasn't until he lost his virginity with a village girl that really confirmed it. He was strong. He was so fast and so powerful that it was almost unreal, and coming down from it--sinking back to human levels--was uncomfortable.

But the older he got, the more difficult he found life, and eventually he began to hate his twisted powers. He rarely attracted people who would care for him, instead bringing only the lustiest humans to his doorstep. Men cheating on their wives looking for trysts. Women sneaking in the back door to beg him. He wanted none of them, and began to bundle himself up to avoid it as much as possible.

It was around the time he was thirty that he encountered a situation with a rogue werewolf. Technically sentient, but far from kind, with a penchant for eating human flesh. With the knowledge from his books, Red managed to slay it, taking up his job as a hunter for the first time. From then on he traveled freely, following rumors of creatures and monsters that preyed on society. Not all of them were guilty, of course, but Red found it made very little difference to him. He had a reputation, one that grew and grew and then finally began to die as people doubted the old ways, became skeptical of the stories told by wizened old women around the campfires.

People needed him less and less.

There was a rumor--something often repeated by the creatures he killed--about an island filled with creatures like them, but it wasn't until one particularly unfortunate creature had a letter that he really believed it. The letter in hand, he was able to locate a scout who (oblivious to the fact that Red had killed the very person he'd been scouting) was happy enough to send him on his way.
