Backstory: 

Star and Ztar were actually around 500 years ago, it was one cold night, the night before Christmas, before he had his powers, him and Ztar both looked the same, different appearance, they both had red hair, and the pajamas they wore, Star wore white pajamas, and Ztar wore black. Ztar back then was always mean to Star, always a bully, anyways harsh, the night before Christmas Star was trying to tell Ztar about Santa, and Ztar kept saying he wasn't real, so Star wanted to prove it to him and they both went through a gold portal which took them both ti a giant room that looked very Christmasy, it had a giant Christmas tree too, the size of a mountain, perhaps even bigger. The giant star on top of the Christmas tree glowed so bright Star wanted to see it up close, so they both climbed up the tree, which took them both hours, but once up the top, Ztar lost interest and went into a gingerbread house, while Star went to the giant star, getting sucked inside, On the other hand, Ztar was sucked into a dark portal, and then stuck inside a giant ztar. Star and Ztar were both stick inside the star and ztar for over 500 years, which made them both get their forms you see today. Cyber discovered Star inside the giant star and saved him, from since that day, Star joined the family and got used to his new home, and for Ztar, he managed to break free on his own after 500 years, but Ztar was a jerk until Ali put a nice potion on him, which made him realize the family was his true happiness, not popularity. From since those days, they both couldn't be happier

~ Ztar was named star because he always was opposite to his brother, and it would only make sense to call him this, he was always darker then Star after all
