Branch is a disgraced cryptozoologist. He’s incredibly unlucky, and every time he has an encounter, some part of his scheme goes wrong, and he dosnt get any proof. The others at the cryptozoologist conventions are tired of his incredible stories that never have the proof to back them up. They also just find his personality to be abrasive, and he usually smells weird.  

Branch dosnt have many friends, though he is somewhat close to his punk hermit friend reed. Reed is a red coyote that lives alone in the woods with his chickens, and a goat named Slippers. Branch drags Reed along on his wild cryptid hunting trips. Reed dosnt really believe in all of it, but he’s entertained by Branch’s enthusiasm. Reed thinks it’s kinda cute, and they have some romantic tension. 

Branch is from Southern California originally, so he has a hard time fitting in to the southern swamp town he’s moved too to continue his research. They’re suspicious of his accent, but most have determined that Branch is harmless at best and useless at worst.
