Backstory

Had an alcoholic & abusive father who grew worse once his mother left for rehab.

Despite this Jay encouraged his mother to remove herself from the household and go to rehab so she could become clean. Once she finished the program she would be able to gain full custody of her son and get him away from the hostile home.

One night he had assumed his father would be out drinking late so he had his closest friend, Aria, over to work on a school project. Unfortunately his father returned early in a drunken rage, barged into Jay's room and questioned why he had a girl there. Ignoring the vulgar comments towards his friend, he tried to safely guide her to the front door. His father blocked their path and aggressively grabbed Aria by the arm. When Jay saw the fear in his friends' eyes and the determination of his drunken father, he knew he had to step in. He reacted swiftly by grabbing the nearest weapon and driving it through his father's back. Both horrified and relieved, he grabbed Aria and left. He didn't look back.
