Profile

Name:

Nao Miyasaki

Age:

16

Gender:

Female

Title:

Ultimate Riddler

Appearance:

Nao has long, blonde hair. It's wavy and goes down to her stomach, and instead of bangs, her bangs are braided to the back. Behind her ear is a white rose. Her eyes are brown and have light mascara. Her cheeks are seemingly naturally pink and her lips are always light pink.

Clothing:

She wears a light pink dress with a white silk jacket that ends at the beginning of her stomach. Nao's hands have french tips and around her neck is a silver locket. Her legs are covered by white tights and she wears light pink flats.

Personality:

Nao is a childish, argumentive girl who has no mercy for men. She is a vulnerable girl due to her being adopted and her sister was her parents' actual child. Most likely mentally ill, Nao is someone with anger issues and doesn't have a grip on what she's doing most of the time. She wishes to be someone people look at and wills to be someone who is smart and beautiful and attempts to act this way but screws it up by being generally angry all the time. Nao attempts to start fights with many but is too weak to carry them out. Generally noisy, she doesn't like silence due to her time in the asylum.

Bio:

Nao was given away at birth to an orphanage but was quickly adopted by a family. She felt unwanted and like something her parents regretted as they already had a birth child who was Nao's older sister. She was lonely and wasn't someone people looked at, causing her to brattishly act out and be a loud, jealous person. At first, she dated boys at random because she wanted to find someone who would accept her but after a friend of hers became crazily in love with a guy due to her loneliness and desperation to find love despite his terrible treating of her, Nao began to hate serial dating and quit doing that, afraid that she could become so attached to someone that she'd forget her aspirations. Her best friend at the time had been a nerdy girl with a comic book addiction named Tamayo who got Nao into solving riddles, making riddles, and solving mysteries. Eventually, Nao started getting into creepy pastas and believed every word due to her disability which makes it hard for her to desipher reality and fiction. Tamayo and Nao were in a small group of friends but were much closer to each other than the rest. That year, she had fallen in love with her best friend but Tamayo was very traditional and was not interested in being in a relationship with Nao. Tamayo was distressed after doing so because Nao seemed so torn up about it. A week later, Nao invited Tamayo to meet her at her house to get something Tamayo had left at their last sleepover (something Tamayo wasn't comfortable with having any longer). In sadness and anger, Nao stabbed Tamayo in the chest, nearly killing her. Tamayo stumbled down the stairs and called the police, who got there relatively quickly. Nao did nothing more than sit at the top of the staircase, smiling. She hadn't felt bad about doing such a thing at all. Tamayo didn't press charges against Nao because Tamayo still thought of her as her best friend.

Nao was taken to a mental asylum for the better of two years. After about a year of being in the asylum with little progress on her frequent tantrums and violent outburts despite the severity of her condition not being all that bad, she was assigned a new therapist named Yuudai who, while not the Ultimate Therapist, had been in the running for that title and was considered "robbed" due to his amazing abilities. He attempted to make Nao better but found out that she only responded to harshness and manipulation. Yuudai's track record of helping all his patients within a year was at risk due to Nao's stubborn, unruly nature. He panicked, not even letting her frequently post her riddles online and even accept a Hope's Peak invitation for whenever she gets out of the asylum would motivate her to try to get better. During her time there, Nao had grown bitter. She'd started cussing all the time because Tamayo had hated the act. But she was so confused... Nao missed her past life, given that her parents never came to visit her out of fear. When she was lonely, she'd think about Tamayo. She'd miss the way that things used to be. She'd forget that she was suppost to hate Tamayo. Eventually, Yuudai got desperate as the year deadline loomed and actually started using fear tactics on Nao in order to get her to appear as though she was recovering. No one doubted Yuudai and Nao was released rather soon after. Once Nao got out of the asylum, she decided to go to Hope's Peak. She made it her goal to become more than what Tamayo had rejected and become someone that people looked at.

Possibility of killing?:

She is mentally unstable so if someone rejects her friendship or she hates them- she probably will kill them.

Possible Execution:

In one of her riddles (while it is being played in an audio tape in her voice), she walks up stairs until the question comes up "how does she know she's messed up?" "it's a paradox, there is no upstairs." The stairs disappear and she falls to her death.

The riddle: "There's a detective in training named Homura. She is told that there has been a murder in a one-story house. Homura goes to the house and notices that there is no police officers around the house. The maid tells her that the body is upstairs. Homura walks up the stairs and feels the air conditioning on her legs. How does she know she's messed up?"

Mastermind:

She could be if she was an outcast within her class and wanted revenge.

Canon:

In the canon of "An Adventure of Mutual Killing", Nao becomes friends with Tamaya (who has a very similar name to Tamayo, leading Nao to call her Reiko), Chiharu, Nicholas, Katsuo, Victoria, and Toyozo. Nao gets involved in a fight Toyozo, Nicholas, and Reiko due to her panic at Reiko's last name that she goes by. She later apologizes and they have become a close-knit group while still being wary of Nichlas and Toyozo. But Nao still is best friends with Chiharu and cares for her above all. She is heartbroken when Chiharu is the first murderer and becomes delusional, seeing Chiharu wherever she goes. She grows closer to Reiko, Nicholas, and Toyozo. Katsuo burns Chiharu's room despite Nao's and his blooming friendship and Nao hates him. In the third chapter, she confesses her past with Tamayo to Reiko, giving a false representation of who Tamayo was. Kaiko pushes Nao into a pool due to Nao's excessive cussing, leading to the reveal of Kaiko's true nature. Katsuo guilts Nao and manipulates her much like Yuudai did, causing Nao to have flashbacks of her time in the asylum and follow Katsuo around like a lost puppy. Toyozo confesses to her and Nao runs away, confused at why this happened, Toyozo had always teased her but she didn't think he'd like her! She never sees Toyozo again as he dies the next day, leaving Nao a horrified mess. He had died the day after she rejected him, if she had said yes, would he have still died? Would he have died happy? After the trial, she writes a long note to Toyozo about her feelings, as she doesn't think she likes him but believes it could have grown into more had he been alive and that she was sorry that he died without knowing how she felt. However, Reiko catches her in the act of throwing the paper into Toyozo's room and causes Nao to be rude about it, crumpling it up and throwing it into his room. Reiko asks if Nao likes anyone and if that's why she's acting so strange making Nao yell that Reiko is being insensitive because she doesn't know how to feel about what happened with Toyozo and his death- seeing as Nao believed that Toyozo had liked Reiko and had only confessed in a rebound nature since Reiko started dating Nishiki. Later they rekindle and Nao attempts to ruin Nishiki and Reiko's date. Nao is unsure of how to feel regarding Nicholas's death and is mostly undecisive throughout the trial. Nao becomes better friends with Katsuo and Victoria during the time after Nicholas's trial.

School/World Mode:

Nao gets angry at Toyozo for getting a better score than her on a test (despite her doing very well on the test), she had yelled and thrown a fit in class which got her detention. She waits in detention even after its over for Toyozo to come and meet her so that she can settle the score, a hopeful tone on a situation where Toyozo and Nao can finally be happy and maybe even together.

Nao and Tamayo never meet and never will meet. They are not meant to be happy together- They need to move on and have lives without the other in it.

Nao's relationship with Reiko is shaky at best due to Nao never getting into Hope's Peak in this world and becoming much more flakey, depressed, and bored.

Beta:

In the first drafts of Nao as a character, she was supposed to be in a fanfic as the person who is close to the protagonist and later dies. Her and Tamayo were meant to only have just met in the Mall of Despairica (meaning that in Nao's past, she had stabbed her own mother instead) and Nao would have fallen in love with Tamayo there.

- The Murder -

Tamayo and Nao had a close relationship, which Monokuma wanted to ruin. Monokuma threatened to use his one rule-break (in the fic, there was a rule where Monokuma could have one rule-break) against Nao to say that he would kill Tamayo if Nao did not kill someone.

In the middle of the night of the murder, a small ding is heard in the protag’s room. They think nothing of in the daze and forget about it in the morning when protag and (a character) discuss the new rule: No perjury. It is nearly as bad as the murder itself you know! This rule shall expire in 2 days.

Nao killed (the victim) in order to save Tamayo but felt super guilty and when Nao saw Tamayo walking back to their dorm at 5, told them what they had done. Tamayo said they’d think about it and later sent a note to Nao saying “You don’t say anything, I won’t say anything”, leaving it up to fate whether or not Nao won the trial or not. Nao returned the note to Tamayo with a checkmark on it and Tamayo got to work. Tamayo went to the crime scene (which is why only 2 triggered the announcement). They attempted to scrub up the shoe prints but could only smear them to look as large as Tamayo’s. (Nao has smaller feet than Tamayo). Of course, the cleaned murder weapon was used by Nao to kill (the victim) but Tamayo cleaned it- along with planting fake evidence and attempting to get rid of evidence (while incriminating herself). Tamayo is constantly lying during the trial, trying desperately to save NaoBut Nao is voted for and found out as the killer. They begin to weep and sob, happy to have saved Tamayo but terrified of death.

Tamayo runs over to hug them when Tamayo is suddenly killed. Impaled. Just sudden death. Nao is outraged, crying and everyone is screaming at Monokuma who simply gestures them to their ElectroID. In order to create more despair, there was an extra rule added (No perjury. It is nearly as bad as the murder itself you know! This rule shall expire in 2 days.). The ding that everyone had woken up to in the middle of the night, was the addition of the rule. Nao is dragged away to their execution and everyone is horrified.
