Yona understands that life can be difficult. After all, it seems everything about her from her religon, to her body, and even just life seems to have it out for her. She plans to escape, one day. Not from anything, really, but she is eager to start a new life and not have any ties to the one she has now. But so begins the waiting game as it does for so many closeted teens. Keep your head down, make good grades, dont cause any trouble. Except...for some reason, the world feels like its building up to something. A strange tension is in the air that no one else really seems to notice. Whatever it is, and whatever these strange dreams seem to be hinting at, Yona has a feeling that her plans for the future might need some adjustments, as well as sacrifices, to achieve. Yona, which is the Hebrew version of Jonah, means “dove” or “pigeon.” Yona was the hesitant prophet who ran away from delivering a message to the city of Nineveh and was subsequently swallowed by a giant fish.
