Motley is a former serial killer, orphan, and general exhausted mess. At just around one sweep (two years) their lusus was taken away and murdered by lusus raiders-- and not long after this, the newly orphaned troll was taken in by their ancestor, Gacomo, and their quadmates.

They had a rather odd, but not awful, upbringing from there up until they were about three sweeps (6 years) old. This was when their trio of parental figures were exiled, as is custom for adults in troll culture. Now alone, Motley was left with as much as the three could give them. Motley had been taught to hunt, forage, and fight in order to stay alive without the protection of three rather dangerous trolls.

Moving to a community of other Purplebloods proved helpful as they would help Motley keep from danger-- but over time, they grew tired of the cult life. Escaping one day at around 6 sweeps (13 years), they instead went to a slightly lower class area. Life proved to be much better in some aspects, but not so much in others.

Motley has bipolar disorder and, as such, tends to anger and upset very easily. This, combined with their reluctance to go out and meet many people, became a problem-- especially as they fell in love with one troll in particular at just under 9 sweeps (18 years), who turned out to be psychologically abusive... And naturally, dead-- murdered by Motley as a means of escape from him.

From here, Motley turned to further killings as a way to cope not only with their own newfound trauma, but also as a way to keep others from experiencing the same things they did. They would find trolls who exhibited red flags, lure them in, and then murder them.

This stopped being such a common occurence when Motley one day decided they needed to be around others more often, as their bipolar had been taking a toll on them for a long time. Long episodes of depression with intermittent bouts of rage left them feeling rather awful on the regular, and so they went to their childhood home to find companionship in a familiar place.
