despite being part of the city guard, osmond doesn't have any loyalty to the city of whitecliff as a whole, and only serves it faithfully due to his one-sided love for the dawnjustice. he knows his affections will never reach her, but remains steadfast in his duties as, to him, working as a guard is a way to show his love for her. after events show how morally corrupt and complicated fleur is, osmond's love for her wavers, but he honors her passing all the same when he is chosen to bring the blade down on her neck for her treason, knowing it had to be done, and finding it honorable that he should be the one to do it.
