Summary

Qyii is a quanix mage, loyal to a fault, with the ability to control immense heat to the point of creating plasma. Born into a family of nobility within Jurrica, Qyii's fate was always written out for him. What could not be planned for, however, was the cursed gift of magic, passed on from his uncle, Askyr, onto him. Qyii could manipulate heat to the point of forming plasma, and was sure to surpass his uncle's skill given enough time and practice. As a mage within Jurrica's society he lived with the constant risk that if he were to be caught, he would be killed. He understood this, and even accepted it. Askyr trained Qyii to the best of his abilities and instilled in him a sense of immense loyalty to his society. Qyii made a promise to his uncle that he would defend this city no matter the cost to himself, as that was his fate as a mage, his gift from their goddess, and yet, her curse as well. Even after Askyr's untimely death Qyii continued to keep his wisdom and beliefs in mind, never for a moment thinking to act otherwise, if the time came. His magical prowess only improved further when he met Soulska, who passed along knowledge of the art to the young mage.

Personality

Qyii can come off as cowardly, especially to those who may not understand the quanix's ties to instinct. In reality, his bravery comes from overcoming this instinct and placing his promises over his own welfare. In a way, Qyii manages to be both a total badass and a pathetic baby, occasionally within the same section of writing. Not very humorous, a little too serious, cautious, tends to be skeptical.

In Accordance to the Standard Quanix Disposition
Qyii lacks a significant amount of curiosity, has close ties to instinct- notably, he is prone to the flight response if things go south- he is naturally fearful of items, locations, or creatures that possess large amounts of magic or energy, and has a naturally higher mental potential both offensively and defensibly.

Phobia
Qyii has an irrational fear of loud sounds, which understandably, can be quite an issue. This fear notably forces him to pay attention to the weather, as a simple thunderstorm is more than enough to trigger it. Even the soft rumble of distant thunder is enough to cause him to be anxious over the potentially much scarier thunder that could occur. On days where it seems as though Jurrica might be in for a storm, he makes sure to stay underground; this may also be why his bedroom is subterranean. Qyii despises this fear of his, finding it idiotic that mere sound can affectingly cripple him. He finds that his power over heat makes it just that more inexcusable to be afraid of noise; he, a potent mage even in the eyes of Soulska, Jurrica's hidden "guardian," can't even stay out during a harsh storm without breaking down into tears like a terrified child.

Loyalty
Remarkably loyal, as quanix often tend to be. The desire to push through selfish instinctual motives and to support a society is strong, even if that very same society would disown him if he acts in it's best interests. This loyalty can drive him tot he boundaries of his moral and instinctual standings; he will kill and risk dying if it means that his society will remain safe.

Voice and Dialogue
Qyii's vocabulary is quite varied due to his decent education, and it shows; He will occasionally use the more complicated variant of a word such as "cease" when demanding something to stop. He generally sticks to casual dialogue to make things easier and speaks with very little slang.

His can easily display his emotions, which can be both a good and bad thing; due to his acquired skills in charisma and speech he can use this to his advantage, but when not paying attention, his tone gives away his thoughts. His voice is somewhat soft and charming, nice to listen to.

Design

Qyii is pale skinned and just barely below average height for a quanix, meaning that he is shorter than average by human terms. [+Build, numerical height] He also has a small nose, and is a bit stocky.

Just above where a human's ears would sit are a pair of deer-like furred ears, colored similarly to his hair, though the darker colors are more prevalent. They possess a very limited range of movement but can still be a minor tell for various emotions.

Protruding from his cheeks are a few whiskers, most relatively short to varying degrees, but two larger ones on each side of his face stick out and branch off repeatedly, with one of each pair being somewhat shorter.

Qyii's hair is roughly around shoulder length and tends to be somewhat unruly due to how thick, fluffy, and course it is. It has a shimmery quality to it and is multicolored, ranging from bubblegum pinks, dull pinks, to light and dark lavenders.

His eyes are unusually large by human terms and possess a defined limbal ring-the darker ring around the iris- causing him to appear more childish, whether the on looker realizes this as being the reason or not. They are colored a shimmery silver, and in dark environments are reflective, much like a cat's eyes.

Qyii's wardrobe is pretty basic and doesn't stray far from societal norms; his clothing incorporates a healthy amount of color, plenty of jewelry, and is made of warm materials.

Usual Attire
Blue mantle, long sleeved gradient shirt, sash-thing, comfy pants, boots capable of dealing with snow, earrings [Bells]...

Exiled Attire
Simple tunic with a tattered rope, simple pants, crude boots, bead earring, tattered cloak.

CapAbilities

Quanix Features
Can sense energy and magic, has high telepathic potential, heightened sense of hearing, slight resistance to cold, slight insight into weather conditions, heightened sense of sight: can see infrared, tell more colors apart from one another, and see well in the dark.

Quanix Feature: Vision
Quanix eyes are disportionately large and work in a way similar to a cat’s, letting in more light and enabling them to see better in low-light conditions, though at the cost of being sensitive to bright lights. They also possess a fourth cone (The one that detects color via wavelength) that lets them see infrared, functionally meaning that they can see heat. This also results in quanix having a wider range of perceived colors.

Quanix Feature: Mana Sense
Quanix can sense the magic in people, spells, and objects. The more mana a thing has, the easier it is to detect. They can differentiate the mana felt which can enable them to recognise a specific person or object’s presence. Large amounts of magic will scare quanix.

Telepathy
Barley not a telepath

Magic
Can manipulate heat to extreme degrees; he can ionize the air and create plasma. Despite this, he has trouble maintaining a flame, and controlling the exact temperature can be difficult for him, as he tends to either manage a little bit of heat, or an over-kill amount of heat. [Subject to change -->] He also has slight abilities to manipulate earth and wind, but these means don't seem to come to him as naturally as manipulating heat. The extent of these secondary means tends to be creating [but not removing afterwards] pillars of rock and breaking his fall somewhat with a gust of wind. He has an impressive array of potential for a quanix, even down to his **mana pool, though because of how costly plasma is to craft, maintain, and control, he is often seen as a glass cannon, only capable of delivering a few incredibly powerful attacks. Due to both his quanix nature and possession of magic he is especially sensitive to energy and magic around him. This could very well be some of why he is so easily spooked by it.

Staff
A staff gifted to him by Askyr which amplifies and improves the user's power and control over heat-based magic when the staff is included in any given spell. The main component of the staff is a multi-sided [16-18? It's mostly cylindrical, but not quite] [Probably pink-purple] crystalline rod whose tip ends in a [rupee-like shape]. At it's base, near the start of the [rupee-shaped] tip, and in the middle are metal wraps. The top one has rectangular segments that protrude upwards, and the bottom one provides a thick, slightly wider base. Each of these metal wrappings have a few embedded crystals surrounded by complex quanix runes, mostly made up of remarkably straight lines that create various geometric shapes. Connecting each metal wrap are irregularly shaped and placed rectangular sections of metal plating, also engraved by the same etchings. Even the crystal base itself has a few, though far simpler in design, engravings on it. Wrapped around very specific sections of the staff are thick, cloth ribbons which act as handholds. These have their own designs of a more standard quanix style with large geometric shapes and the occasional bit of jewelry. The staff gives off an overall "make-shift" feeling due to the combination of materials and colors.

Childhood

Qyii was born under a stormy sky during the coldest winter months to [Mother], the head of a rather old and influential family in Jurrica, and [Father] a determined outsider who had managed to make a surprisingly good living in the city. Even before he was born there were high hopes and expectations for him; he was to one day become just as influential a person as his mother and help run this city as her grandmother and great-grandfather had before her. There was, however, an unexpected complication in regards to his future. Qyii possessed the ability to perform magic, passed down to him through his father's bloodline, with his uncle, Askyr, also burdened by this talent. Within their society mages are a thing to be feared, and for good reason; *some are as powerful as the hostile magical beats that have hunted quanix since time immemorial, and the practice of magic as a whole has been tainted by partially lost pieces of history and the gradual warping of religion over time. Qyii's potential was not readily apparent, and it would take time for him, or anyone, to become aware of his true fate.

As a young child, Qyii was well mannered, polite, and naive; everything a child was expected to be. At this point in his life, he had no worries, and anything that was important was taken care of for him due to his cushioned upbringing and eventual status. It was becoming readily apparent, as time went on, that he was a little more skittish than most, easily spooked by loud sounds or shifts in energy around him that most would deem ordinary. This unease over loud noises eventually developed into a genuine phobia, perhaps after Qyii found himself lost in the above-ground plazas of Jurrica during a storm and had to be led home by a kind stranger.

Eventually, Askyr, who was simply more perceptive due to his attunement to magic, realized that it was likely that Qyii possessed control over magic. Once he was certain, he informed Qyii of the dilemma that genetics had created for him, but not without offering solutions. Askyr's work as a scientist enabled him the resources to hide his nephew's potential, just as he did for himself, but it didn't end there. He also decided to train Qyii, and give him a direction in the form of a promise. Qyii was to, if necessary, use his magic to defend Jurrica if ever a threat that justified it arises. It was their role in society, the outlet for this cursed gift that their goddess burdened them with. Should that day come, Qyii was expected to push through whatever instinct may hold him back, and fulfill his purpose despite the consequences, with infallible loyalty. Never once did Qyii question this promise; he believed full heatedly in it. If he had to be killed by the hands of his own people in order to save them... then so be it. Nothing great was achieved without sacrifice.

Adulthood

Was assigned his own tutor, a friend of the family perhaps, to teach him information relevant to his eventual political position... was betrothed to benefit his family... Vagueness of Askyr's actual role and work... Was taught what Askyr knew... Askyr gradually went somewhat insane and was eventually killed in a fire that broke out in his lab... Not long after that the empress passed, leaving the makeshift empire without a singular leader, which in turn stirred up the nobility within the city, especially when talks began of a *Strange Veil Being having gotten involved with the two heirs, but those were mostly rumors, and may be a misinterpretation of an outside adviser such as the newly appointed Royal Scientist, though Qyii only knew of her due to her role as Askyr's replacement...

Mage

During a trip to the tunnels leading  to the frozen wasteland, Qyii meets Soulska... Soulska befriends him and teaches him about magic... An outside threat forces Qyii to fulfill his purpose and defend the city with his abilities... would have been killed, but is instead apprehended alongside Feon by Uurien for use in her scientific endeavors...

Exile

Is liberated from Uurien by Svatei [and maybe Yossavir too]... Joins the group on their travels, as he has few alternative options... Is given a final meeting with Soulska through a dream...

Trivia

  • Qyii is extremely tone deaf and cannot comprehend music; to him, it's just noise.

  • His favorite color is a cold glittery gold- the same color that is associated with his identifying name.

  • One of his first memories is of getting lost around the city [above ground] during a storm and being lead home by a kind stranger.

Author's Notes

  • Here's a neat thing Qyii did outside of the cannon: In an outrageous, impossible scenario Charlotte, Soulska, and Qyii teamed up to completely decimate a Crusaders base. Three of the most powerful mages between three universes. It's already apparent that the Crusaders stood no chance. Charlotte acted as their defense and Soulska provided a near endless energy supply. Qyii set up what is best described as a plasma tsunami and vaporized the desert. He literally turned the sand into silicon oxide, and anything that was left was either melted or turned into glass. Soulska and Charlotte stayed silent for a while afterward, before the Universe-hopping elf stated aloud, "I'm glad you're on our side." which is quite the compliment.

  • Qyii has quickly become a personal favorite character for me. He manipulates an incredible force, something that even Soulska must give credit to, and yet he himself is not an entirely overpowered character due to a multitude of counters ranging from his fear of loud sounds to his loyalties. I find that having a character that could easily kill nearly any other character with ease, and yet never does as somewhat of a success on my part, or at least some self control.

  • One time, Soulska handed Lie'aco, his phoenix familiar, over to Qyii for a little while. Lie'aco thought that he could overtake Qyii, essentially making him the familiar instead of the other way around, but instead the overconfident bird got a little lesson in quanix telepathy. He actually got a little paranoid, fearing that Qyii would be the one to alter Lie'aco's will and perspectives. Qyii of course didn't, and wouldn't, but this fear was enough to keep Lie'aco in his place... for the most part.

  • In RPs, if Qyii relays a powerful message through telepathy, it'll sometimes get colored like so, which is meant to mimic the color associated with his identifying name.

  • Qyii's name used to be Qyii'Shaqeer, but that overly complicated so I cut the last bit and used it for his identifying name.

  • Qyii's name was created through an inside joke; when in need for a name just follow our guide: Step 1-Slam your hand into the keyboard. Step 2- Fix it up a little bit, get rid of symbols or repeating letters, add a few vowels if needed. Step 3-Add a Q, Y, or double I. This last bit comes from our naming conventions; Arkinsoul* tends to add Q's everywhere, especially as a replacement for K. I have a tendency to use a Y instead of an I, or use two I's for an interesting appearance. Q-Y-I-I, therefore, is self-explanatory. He IS the naming convention.

  • Inspiration for Qyii came partly from discussions in my astronomy class; We were being taught about stars which in turn made me want to have a character that could utilize plasma. I spent a while trying to get colors right.

  • In my play-through of Miitopia, Qyii played the role of the unenthusiastic cautious cat, and it was absolutely hilarious. he was by far my favorite part, as having such a beloved, powerful, respectable character dressed in a frilly pink cat suit fight strange face monsters was just- amazing.
    • He tried twice to escape his fate;  One: he fell into a hole and abandoned my party, leaving them without real means of dealing damage, and two: during an important battle he fell and when my cleric, played by Ythrill, attempted tor revive him, he opted out.
