"The Fall"Major antagonist/ protagonist

Jenni is a seemingly indifferent and manipulative microbiologist working under Zepherin in his doomsday inducing endeavors, although her motivations are unclear even to those who work with her.
Her past gives her no visible incentive to be as cold and emotionless as she is, and yet, whether by choice or genetics, she forgoes empathy and morality in place of an unattainable perfectly logical mindset. She doesn't seem to crave power, or ultimate knowledge, or things typical of the role she plays; instead, it seems that she desires to shed all remnants of biology and
instinct from her and make an impact on the world, if not the universe. In her eyes, changing the course of earth's history for better or for worse, or even just bringing it to the edge of destruction and staring into the eyes of its leaders, willingly unmoved... is more than enough for her.

Appearance

Jenni is of average height with a white complexion. She isn't especially attractive by conventional standards as she has a smaller than average bust and relatively narrow hips, but she is most definitely healthy and even makes efforts towards remaining so.

Her hair is dark brown, straight, easily manageable, and regularly cut to reach just past her shoulders. Jenni always wears her hair in a ponytail tied back with a black hair-tie unless there is some benefit, whether immediately visible or not, to styling her hair differently.

Jenni's eyes are a slightly lighter shade of brown than her hair.

Attire

Jenni will never wear heeled shoes, dresses, skirts, or jewelry unless her attire relates to some form of manipulation. Any clothing she wears will be practical and usually semi-formal.

Work Attire: Long sleeved button up shirt [Usually brown, but also: white, black, or grey,] occasional bow in place of a tie [Usually green, but also: white, black, or grey,] dress pants [Usually white, but also: black,] dress shoes [Black, white, or brown] and occasionally a lab-coat, vest, or formal or semi-formal coat.

Work Attire [Cold Weather]: If the weather demands it, she will wear either a plain sweater or a formal/ semi-formal coat.

Jogging Attire: A plain t-shirt and gray sweatpants. If the weather demands it, she will wear a gray hoodie or a simple raincoat with a hood.

 Personality

Cold, plain, apathetic, always in control, highly efficient. Desires control and information, as well as to leave an impact on the world, though she controls this well.

It is difficult to separate Jenni's true personality, morals, and flaws from what she displays. This very mystery is what makes her character so interesting; Is she truly apathetic, or only pretending to lack empathy? Does she truly see good in Zepherin's plans, or is she only doing it to exercise control over history? Does she even care about humanity's future, or is it all just part of her endeavors to separate herself from her own humanity? Does she regret her decision to forgo emotion entirely, or is she really as unfeeling as she appears? Does she truly find enjoyment in toying with people, or is it all part of an act? Leaving such questions to be answered by other characters and players alike makes her a far more intriguing character, so, make of her what you will.

To an outside observer, Jenni is apathetic, stoic, cold, and confident. She shows very little emotion and is incredibly dedicated to whatever task she has at hand, giving off a flawless image, as long as seeming to not possesses any sort of empathy isn't considered a flaw.

Layers of Truths and Falsehoods; Manipulation: It is very unclear what is truly her personality, and what's a ruse. Maybe she doesn't even know anymore.

Curiosity: It is something she learned to balance, just like every other aspect of her. It took longer to realize that curiosity too is a mark of evolution- just a more useful one.

Questionable Lack of Empathy and Morality: It seems that she is either completely apathetic, or has become very adept at pretending to be.

Disdain for Instinct and Basic Biology: She will actively spite things relating to this subject. Irrational fear responses, arousal, innate desires.. she is determined to put herself above it all.

The Desire to Leave an Impact: Her entire endevour with Zepherin is based upon the goal to impact the world. And, even if her name is lost to history, her influence on earth, on the universe itself, can never be erased. And that alone is more than enough.... it must be.

Voice and Dialogue

Jenni is precise in her choice of words, even when the emotion- or lack thereof- backing the words shifts. Her tone is nothing special and usually manages to be very forgettable and quite plain, even bordering on monotone. Very to the point and no-nonsense... most of the time.

If emotion and tone are notable in her speech it is likely very controlled and present for a reason, whether that reason is especially apparent or not.

  • Quietly judging people and scenarios in order to gather information.

Hobbies

 Story

WIP

*born on a leap day...played trombone in band- did a solo in a show...r.. at the age of 25*... joins Zepherin's group... The Fall...

Childhood and College

Jenni's upbringings were wholly unremarkable; she was born to an upper-middle-class family and remained an only child, and her parent's retained stable jobs and a healthy relationship, although often they were somewhat detached towards their daughter due to their busy schedules and own social lives. Her performance in school was mediocre at best despite her parents best efforts, and by middle school, it was clear that her drive to do well had faded significantly. Her parents weren't exactly strict on her and rather had the tendency to baby her, though always with the intent to ensure that she is successful in some sort of higher career like they were. They were perhaps overly concerned that pushing her too hard would result in nothing good at all, especially considering that she did truly seem to be trying her best, at least at first.

With no traceable trigger, Jenni's approach to life changed. In her final year of middle school, she turned everything around, suddenly filled with a previously unheard of desire to do well, to be successful, and to look to the future. Naturally, her parents were proud of her, and encouraged her, never questioning exactly what finally got to her. Perhaps a friend from school, or a teacher, or a guidance counselor, or a particular job prospect... it didn't matter to them.

Going into high school Jenni continued striving to do anything and everything that she could manage; she took AP, honors, and even extra classes, played trombone in band and quickly caught up to her more well-practiced peers, joined various clubs, volunteered for the school, and participated various sports. She was well known for her outstanding success and drive, but also for her unusual behavior. She rarely interacted with other students, even those in band or other such groups, and gradually gained a reputation for quietly instigating drama among students through social manipulation and careful information gathering. These negative behaviors only worsened with time but were never once reflected in her grades. When Jenni was inevitably forced to see a professional in an attempt to mend these behaviors, she did her best to manipulate the results in her favor, to give them a reason that she could control. These attempts succeeded, and from then on she improved her tactics and story, using people to her advantage to control the story that surrounds her.

At some point during high school she 'befriended' an enlightened individual who wasn't human. To Jenni, this person was a means of easing her parent's concerns, but this person genuinely considered Jenni as one of their only friends. This friend introduced Jenni to the enlightened world, which temporarily shattered her world-view. It was in this moment that she rewrote and affirmed her beliefs and goals, realizing that curiosity too is an aspect of her own biology, and must, therefore, be something to overcome and control. She now had a whole new layer to the world to understand. With the same distant determination as had brought her to this point, she would peruse this knowledge for the sake of having it rather than in the drive of curiosity.

She graduated as valedictorian with her sights set on becoming a virologist, and with no academic challenge seeming to ever phase her, she succeeded in this goal too in remarkable time and with commendable, near-perfect grades. He social manipulation never ceased and only improved, and once again it seemed that no one even knew of Jenni as more than an academic success.

Onward and 13 Year Collections

Having heard of Jenni's success and intriguing disposition, Zepherin hired her to work as a higher up at his Research Facility and later offered for her to join in his World Changing Project. She accepted and became a key player in his plans.

The Fall [M]: Failure

The facility is raided, and Jenni makes her stand. No matter what happens next, in her eyes, she won.
She is later executed, but not before the whole world knows her name as the terrorist who nearly changed the world.

The Fall [F]: Success

The facility is raided, and Jenni makes her stand. No matter what happens next, in her eyes, she won.
A worldwide revolution was snuffed out by a virus of her design. She had changed the world.

Relationships

Zepherin

Zepherin is her boss and acts as an interesting look into how people function in odd scenarios.

"Dr. Reheir is an intriguing individual; faults and all."

Francis

Francis is an important member of the project and a useful individual to have around with his abilities in magic and resources within that community.

Rosa

Rosa is Zepherin's significant other.

"In short, Rosa is boring. She leads an uneventful life and accomplishes nothing. She does, however, offer another vantage point into Zepherin's lifestyle and personality. Do I feel sorry for her? No. Her decision to succumb to her obsession with Dr. Reheir despite his obvious shortcomings, and despite the time available to mend that obsession, is truly all her own."

 Trivia

  • If asked what her favorite animal is, she will answer with either tardigrades or crows/ ravens.

Quotes and Excerpts

"Jenni faced her demise all with a proud smile. No one could deny her success- She, a mere human- with no powers, no incredibly advantaged disposition, and no special resources- had altered the course of human history- perhaps, even the history of earth. And though this was but a single world, in a single solar system, in a single galaxy... it felt meaningful to her due to just how tragically small her own existence and understanding was, and she seemed to always be half accepting of this. She had overridden- as best a creature bound to it’s own biology edged on by evolution could- the primal fear of death, allowing a means of escape to simply knowingly pass her by, all for putting on an incredible show, for denying answers, for being frustrating, for being remembered by at least someone or something..."

-"The Nature of Man" doc

 Author's notes

  • Jenni is but one of several characters who started out as insignificant but then became something more interesting.
  • She would also make the best eatharyian villain as she embodies everything that they view as dangerous; the heightened curiosity without moral grounds, the desire for control over all else, the determination to be remembered no matter what the cost...
  • An alternate variation of Jenni came into play during the "The Nature of Man" RP. [Describe it some, future me.]
  • In my play-through of Miitopia, Jenni was cast as The Dark Lord; quite fitting. In any case, it was fun reading her dialogue. [Spoilers ahead]
      • But imagine my surprise when she just walked off after we beat her; we were letting the real antagonist just leave. Surely she left to plot her next evil scheme.... or, she just came back and joined my party for a little bit. She was only pretending to be useless, just waiting to catch the party off guard...
      • Also, when she kept supplying my team with bananas, I started to question whether she worked on a banana farm or something... then, not long after I had that thought, she admitted to having worked at a banana factory! I was more amused than I should have been.

Creation

  • Jenni was originally a very different background character; she was a cold individual faking a motherly attitude to better comfort Rose.

Art

  • Jenni takes great care in maintaining her image and usually appears emotionless. Most other bits of emotion are slight- a slight smile, seeming a little bit more annoyed than usual, appearing just a tad bit sly... emotions are usually quite subtle unless there is a specific purpose to their existence.

Music

  • Lost My Mind: The song is sort of vague, but I still relate it to Jenni, perhaps because of this vagueness.
  • Awoken: Not all aspects of this song relate to her, but some lines do. Much of this relation might be sort of self-created by me liking the song, or something, though. The song itself is sort of vague, so I think that helps.
